The Organizing Function

All managers need to perform the standard four functions of management no matter what their corporate duties and responsibilities may be. The four functions of management include planning, organizing, leading, and controlling (Erven, 1994). Each of these four functions must interact well with the other three but each function is necessary on its own. Insert Citation 1 here. Planning must occur, in fact, even when management is meeting the functions of organizing and controlling and the planning function must occur in order for the leading function to be completed. Insert Citation 2 here. Through the controlling function management is able to measure the performance of the organization and employees and ascertain their accomplishments. When managers engage in the organizing function they establish the structure of the organizations and determine how work will be performed. As managers complete the four functions of management the help their organizations succeed.

The company organizes benefits so that employees who directly affect Verizon’s profits can earn rewards for doing so which motivates them to do their jobs and achieve company goals. This distinction ensures that the company’s money on these benefits is well spent and that employees are encouraged to achieve goals. The organization has ensured that its benefits in human resources are efficiently employed and are effective in meeting company goals.
