Persons Eligible for the El Paso Tuition Award:

1. Any person who resides within the city limits of El Paso, Texas.

2. Any person who attends school in the El Paso, Ysleta, or Canutillo school districts.

3. Any person who resides in Anthony, Canutillo, or Borderland, Texas.

4. Any person who resides in an area of the county of El Paso that is located north of the city limit.

Additional Information:

THE APPLICANT MUST BE A FINAL GRADUATE/UNDERGRADUATE ADMIT IN THE ADMISSIONS OFFICE BEFORE BEING CONSIDERED FOR THE TUITION WAIVER.

1. The applicant must enroll for a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester.

2. Waivers are limited and will be awarded on a first come first serve basis.

3. Students who do not enroll for Fall or Spring semester, or who take less than 12 credit hours, and/or who do not have a 2.0 GPA at the end of the Spring Semester will automatically be out of the program and must reapply.

4. Returning students from WNMU must reapply in April for the next academic year.

5. Returning students must submit a student copy of their WNMU transcript.

6. Applicants are required to prove their residency by supplying the Admissions Office with any of the following valid documents at the beginning of each academic year: 1) a Texas state driver’s license 2) a Texas voter’s registration; or 3) Texas identification card. Residency will be confirmed using the physical address shown on the proof of residence that is submitted.

7. No tuition awards will be issued after census date (3rd week from the first day of class).

Western New Mexico University reserves the right to deny the El Paso Tuition Award to any Texas resident who cannot provide adequate proof of residency within a one hundred thirty-five mile radius of our institution.

By signing below, I hereby certify that I am a permanent resident of the El Paso, TX area and will not attempt to become a resident of New Mexico while enrolled in this program, and if I receive the tuition award and decide not to attend WNMU I agree to notify the WNMU Admissions Office prior to registration. I understand that failure to attend WNMU for the designated semester will result in the forfeit of my tuition award. If I am found guilty of falsifying this application, I will be subject to out-of-state rates.
