The NPS Alaska Regional Office will be recruiting for a full-time, permanent Outdoor Recreation Planner (GS-0023-13), to lead the Rivers, Trails, and Conservation Assistance (RTCA) program in Alaska. This position is tentatively scheduled to be posted on on February 23.

ABOUT THIS POSITION ? The Program Leader provides strategic leadership and oversight to support and promote RTCA in Alaska and offers technical assistance to help community partners across the state reach their outdoor recreation and natural resource conservation vision.

The RTCA program is the community assistance arm of the National Park Service. Program staff provide technical assistance to community groups and local, state, and federal government agencies working to protect natural areas and water resources and enhance close-to-home outdoor recreation opportunities. RTCA staff help communities plan, organize partnerships, and achieve onthe-ground success on projects they initiate.

DUTY STATION

The position will be duty-stationed in the NPS Alaska Regional Office located in downtown Anchorage. Field work is required in a variety of settings, including in the backcountry. Government housing is NOT available; however, there are many residential opportunities. Anchorage may be reached via highway or air.
