Job Description – Specialist Mentor – Launch Pad

|Job Title: Specialist Mentor – Launch Pad |Location: Medway & Swale |

|Reports to: Service Manager |Salary: up to £24,224 per annum |

|Job Purpose: |

|1) To provide mentoring and support to vulnerable young adults. |

|2) To provide information, advice, guidance and support to young people in a variety of community and agency settings. |

|3) To manage a caseload of young people who are furthest away from the job market and to work within existing partnership frameworks to support them into a |

|variety of outcomes including sustainable employment outcomes. |

|Main duties and responsibilities: |

| |

|To mentor a caseload of adults who have significant and complex barriers to help them to progress towards entry into sustainable employment outcomes |

|Engage with the young people and young adults across a wide range of issues and work closely with all agencies responsible for those in these cohorts. |

|Engage in effective partnership working – attending meetings as required |

|To promote Launch Pad to CXK staff on other contracts to ensure the profile of the project remains high and to engender cross-contract referrals. |

|To make use of the Launch Pad Bursary to remove barriers facing young people on caseload. |

|Responsible for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and young adults by providing individual personal support and advocacy to clients. |

|Manage a caseload of young people, ensuring that their progress is monitored and all contacts recorded as the contract dictates and that appropriate, timely |

|interventions are delivered. |

|Engage with young people to identify barriers to their progression in life in education, training and ultimately employment. This will include the use of |

|appropriate assessments and enabling the clients to identify choices and progression routes available. |

|Develop and maintain effective relationships with a caseload of young people, using a variety of one to one approaches and group support ensuring that they work |

|towards and achieve sustainable progression into employment. |

|Work with partner agencies including Princes Trust, KATO and Kent County Council, to further develop an effective, multi-agency approach to meet client needs. |

|Develop and maintain an understanding of the role and work of external agencies, service providers, employers and training providers. |

|Carry out assessments and referrals to other projects as appropriate |

|To maintain client records on both the Launch Pad and CXK databases |

|Contribute to the effective running of the service by managing information. This will include sharing information appropriately and in line with the Data |

|Protection Act, maintaining accurate records promptly and undertaking tracking |

|Remain knowledgeable of the cross-contract CXK service offer to clients and remain up to date with the products on offer from CXK to ensure the individual needs |

|of clients are fully met. |

|Ensure contract compliance and that internal CXK targets, and annual Project targets are achieved. |

|Work to targets as set by the Company with regards to retaining and sourcing new business |

|Develop and maintain personal and professional effectiveness by participation in performance review processes/observations and by attending relevant working |

|groups, training and support activities. |

|Participate in Contract meetings as requested by Line Managers |

|Undertake such other operational duties as may be required from time to time as directed by the Team Leader including the writing of progress reports |

|Track clients for the time stipulated in the relevant contract to offer support and keep them up to date with employment and training opportunities. |

|Take an active role in relation to own Personal and Continuous Professional Development including attending regular, line manager reviews, appraisal and planning |

|own training and development needs through the use of the CPD file and process. |

|Ensure that all policies and procedures that relate to employment and health and safety are read and understood. Policies may be revised for time to time so it |

|is your duty to ensure you regularly review policies and procedures. |

|Undertake any other reasonable duties that may be required from time to time. The duties may be changed and/or varied to meet changing circumstances at the |

|discretion of Management |

|Due to the nature of work undertaken by CXK there is a requirement of all employees to work flexibly across the organisation to support teams and projects as |

|required, including working out of hours and weekends where necessary, as well as attending residentials. |

|The CXK service offer and its co-ordination arrangements will be developing substantially in the short to medium term. This will require all employees to work |

|flexibly and creatively to contribute to the establishment of the service. |
