Directory of Organisationsproviding services or support tounpaid carersThe term ‘unpaid carer’ is someone of any age who provides support for a relative, partner or friend who is frail or disabled or has a long-term illness, mental health issue or substance misuse problem and who cannot manage on their own. Compiled by Islington Carers Hub April 2015IntroductionWelcome to the second edition of our Directory of organisations providing services or support to unpaid carers in Islington. All of the organisations listed here serve Islington residents and provide specific support for carers. This is not a directory of all organisations in the borough. Voluntary Action Islington host a database of all the voluntary and community sector groups, which you may find useful too. We have included their details at the end of the directory, as well as including a list of national organisations that provide support to carers and a list of links to other key local service providers. Some of the organisations in this Directory also provide support to any carer regardless of where they live as long as the ‘cared for’ person is an Islington resident. Please contact the relevant organisation for more information if you are a carer who lives outside Islington but cares for someone living in Islington. From time to time, Islington Council, Islington CCG (Clinical Commissioning Group) and the Recovery College at Camden & Islington NHS Foundation Trust provide training for carers as well as facilitating focus groups or consultations. Islington Carers Hub will keep you informed as and when we receive information that you may find useful. It is our intention that this Directory should be a ‘live’ resource so, if your details change or you come across any other organisations you think we should include, please let us know by contacting info@.We will update basic details every 6 months and review the whole Directory once a year.We hope you find the Directory useful!Best wishesLiz MercerManager, Islington Carers HubContentsPage no.Name of OrganisationCategory of carer or service userGeneralCondition-specificEthnicity-specificOlder (e.g. >55)Younger (e.g. <25)4Access Team,LBI Social ServicesX5678Age UK Islington:Support Group (ICH)Locality NavigatorsSupport PlanningContinuing SupportXXX91011Alzheimer’s Society Islington:Carers’ Support GroupCecilia’s CaféSinging for the BrainXXX12Archway and District Carers’ GroupX13CARIS Islington Bereavement ServiceX14CASA Family Service (carer age <18)XX15CASA Families, Partners and Friends ServiceX1617181920Centre 404:Coffee MorningsFamily Carers’ Reference GroupOlder Carers’ Group/EventsSupporting Carers (CF aged 18+)Supporting Families (CF aged <18)XXXXXXX21Community NetworkX22Dementia Navigators,C&I Foundation TrustXX23Drug and Alcohol Affected Families and Friends in Islington (DAAFFII)X24Family Action, Islington and Camden Young Carers ServiceX25iCope Psychological Therapies and Wellbeing ServiceX262728Islington Carers Hub:Advice ServiceSupport GroupsPathway GroupXXX29Islington Libraries Carers CollectionXX (many)XX3031Islington Mind:Carers’ Therapy GroupDual Diagnosis Carers’ ServiceXX32Islington Personal Budgets NetworkX33Islington Stroke Enablement ServiceX34Learning and Development, LBIX35Mind YourselfXX36St Luke’s Co Support group (ICH)X37Stroke AssociationX38Stuart Low Trust: Friday Eve.
