Purpose Statement: The purpose of this offering is to learn how to communicate with patients and families and how to bridge the gap from curative to hospice care.
Participants will be able to:
■ Identifying end of life choices
■ When is Hospice Appropriate
■ How to approach the subject of Hospice with patients and families
■ Communicating with the primary physician

Participants must complete all requirements for successful completion to receive nursing contact hours or continuing education credit for an educational activity.

HANDOUTS and EVALUATION

• The evaluation will be emailed to you to the email address you registered for the class with. The evaluation must be completed within 7 business days after the program date or you will receive an incomplete. Credit cannot be awarded once the program is closed in 30 days.
CONTINUING EDUCATION CERTIFICATES
• If you registered prior to May 30th on our old registration system, log in to your account via our website: methodistcollege.edu/professional-development then click Account Login on left side of page. (Note: If you are using Outlook Web Access, you will need to copy and paste the address into a browser.)
o Click on My Account in the black bar after you have successfully signed in.
o Click on My Certificates. Click on DOWNLOAD to view or print your certificate. These will be available to you at any time, even after you view and print.
• If you registered after May 30th using our new registration system, your CE certificate will be placed in your online Professional Development account and a link to access your certificate will be automatically generated to you at within 24 hours of completing all requirements.

THINGS TO REMEMBER:
• You must have paid in full. If you have not done so, please call the business office at 402-354-7061.
• You must have completed an evaluation.
NEW PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT REGISTRATION SYSTEM IS LIVE!
• If you have not yet used our new registration system to register for programs, you will need to create a new account in this system using your email address (work or personal) as a login and a self-selected password. You will be prompted to create an account when you register for a course.
• This new system will contain all continuing education, life support, and any other courses provided by NMC Professional Development. All Methodist Health System employees MUST enter their employee ID number to register for designated courses free of charge. Employee ID numbers are also needed for tracking mandatory certifications by HR.
• Our current registration system will remain active until July 31 for users to access their account in order to save or print their continuing education certificates. We highly recommend all users access their account now in order to save or print CE certificates in case of any future license auditing.
• All life support course certificates are saved on the American Heart Association website so these certificates will not be in your PD account.
