Personal Responsibility In Developing Excellence

Greetings students and parents!

On August 17, 2020 we will begin a new school year! Each school years brings another opportunity

for us to positively impact our students so that they are college and/or career ready when they

graduate from Dunwoody HS. Though this year will begin with remote teaching and learning, we will

continue to collaborate to strengthen and improve our instructional practices. As educators and

support staff, we know that we have a significant lifelong impact on the lives of the students we

encounter. We are committed to supporting the whole child by providing engaging & relevant

instruction and social & emotional support to our students.

I know that the start of this school year is unlike any school year we have seen in the past. However, I

do know that we, the Dunwoody Wildcats are resilient and dedicated to teaching and learning! I am

inspired and proud of the collaborative work of our teachers who continue to find creative ways to

engage students via remote learning. I can*t wait to engage in learning with our new and returning

students as I participate in some of our remote classrooms. I am aware that there will be some

technology challenges due to the number of students throughout DCSD that will be accessing VERGE

through Clever/Launchpad. However, the faculty & staff of DHS will provide support to our students

and parents throughout this process. This remote learning guide has been created to provide you with

a central location to get the support and information you need so that your student is successful. I will

continue to use School Messenger to send notifications to parents of any new information or updates

concerning remote learning.

Speaking of notifications, here, at DHS, we value open and reciprocal communication between the

school and home. Therefore, parents, it is imperative that your contact information, including phone

number and email address is up to date in Infinite Campus Parent Portal. This will ensure you receive

communication from your child*s teachers and information from the principal via School

Messenger. Also, consider joining our amazing PTSO and subscribing to the DHS News E-Blast. To

join the PTSO and subscribe to the e-blast click here. Additionally, you can follow me on Twitter

@DunwoodyHS to receive quick announcements, highlights, and updates throughout the school

year.

As stated before, the beginning of this school year is unlike any school year we*ve experienced in the

past. Nonetheless, I am still excited about the new school year and all the promise and unlimited

possibilities of success it will bring! With an extraordinary faculty & staff and supportive parents &

community, our students are poised to be lifelong learners and productive members of an increasingly

diverse society.

Sincerely,

Priscilla Cole, Proud Principal

Dunwoody HS
