PennDOT Memo Template

DATE: January 25, 2013SUBJECT: Bureau Organizational Code Changes to be reflected in Strike-off Letter Numbering FormatTO: All District ExecutivesFROM: Brian Weidman, P.E. /s/Acting Director for Bureau of Project DeliveryThis memo is to inform you of how the recent organizational changes made in the Highway Administration Deputate will impact SOL numbering. As you are aware, the previous Bureaus of Design (BOD) and Construction and Materials (BOCM) were combined to form the new Bureau of Project Delivery (BOPD). Similarly, the Bureaus of Maintenance and Operations (BOMO) and Highway Safety and Traffic Engineering (BHSTE) were combined but retained the Bureau of Maintenance and Operations name (BOMO). The Business Leadership and Administrative Services Office (BLASO) was not impacted by the reorganization. Because of the reorganization, the bureaus have new organizational codes. The Business Leadership and Administrative Services Office (BLASO) will continue to use the 4000 organizational code. As of January 1, 2013, BOMO’s organizational code will be 4900, and BOPD’s organizational code will be 4800. Currently, the first three digits of the SOL number represent the issuing Bureau’s organizational code, the next two digits reflect the current year and the last two digits reflect the sequential number of the SOL. Beginning in January 2013, all SOLs issued by Highway Administration will be numbered using the new organizational codes (for example, 480-13-01). For your information, please refer to the Highway Administration’s updated organizational codes in the charts on the following pages.
