Find an article which interests you and complete the reading task for the week. Mrs Frisby & the Rats of Nimh by Robert C. O’Brien finishREADING TASK: In p6 you have used the same six reading Detective Tasks throughout the year. This week we have chosen a Reading Detective Task from p7 to continue developing your reading skills. Task Three – Passage Finder “I chose this passage because...” Your role is to pinpoint an interesting, memorable, important or puzzling section of the story for your group to discuss. As you find a paragraph or passage that is worth going back to, make a note of the page number and why you picked each one. Then jot down some plans for how they could be shared. You can read the passages aloud yourself, ask someone else to read them or have people read them silently and then discuss. You can share your passage on the Share Your Learning channel and tell your classmates why you chose it.Thankfully, there are books available online if you have run out of reading materials at home. You may have finished reading the books you took home from the school and class library. It is possible to join Edinburgh Library if you aren’t already a member . Edinburgh Libraries have a full collection of online fictional and factual books. Did you know they also have a wide collection of magazines? Have you noticed that it is tricky to know what to say when you bump into another family when you are out for your exercise? Or you are sometimes not sure what to talk about in the playground channel? It is strange for everyone. Don’t worry. Maybe find a topic to talk about e.g. in the Playground Channel you could chat about the UNIFORM TASK – what are the pros/cons of school uniform, or, recommend a book you have just finished reading. Please find a little poem which made me smile. The LeaderI wanna be the leaderI wanna be the leaderCan I be the leader? Can I? Can I?Promise? Promise?Tippee, I’m the leaderI’m the leaderOK what shall we do? By Roger McGoughKeep working hard. It is difficult not being able to see your friends. Keep doing your best and BE KIND. Enjoy reading. Being read to or reading to someone can be a pleasure. This week why not try reading a picture book to a younger sibling, or video call a cousin and read to them. They will LOVE it, and you will enjoy it too. Maybe a grandparent could read a favourite story to you. They will enjoy it and you will LOVE it!Take care – and enjoy sharing stories. Do your best, and as always, don’t worry if you can’t complete all the work on the Learning Grid. We understand that all families are in different situations. Try to complete the Literacy & Maths assignments. Please email us if you have any questions. Kindest wishes.
