MINUTES OF THE MEETING

JANUARY 4th, 2005

6:40 The meeting was called to order by Mike Howell. There were 25 members present and no minutes of the meeting from last month. David read the treasure report and his Chevelle convertible is coming along nicely.

Jim Johnson from the Tulsa Chevelle Club met with David Gohring and Mike Howell for dinner last month. They went over some of the Midwest Chevelle Regional notes and things seem to be coming along well. This year it will be an indoor show with a sky-walk to boot! No rain or windstorms or 100-degree tempters to worry about! We pre-ordered t-shirts at the meeting and we would like everyone to go to Tulsa this year if you can to support your Midwest Chevelle Regional. The show will be on August 10, 11, and 12 of 2006. There is a flyer in this newsletter to pre-register with.

Sunflower Swap Meet will be on February 3rd and 4th. We have the same booth space as last year. J & K 19 This is a good time for everyone that comes. Hope to see you all there.

WACO still has t-shirts and hats for sale. If you are interested please contact one of the officers or come to the next meeting.

TJ mentioned having a WACO function at the Wichita International Raceway or at the new Mid America Dragway. He was asked to look in to it a little more and see if he could get more information on it.

We had another round table open forum finish to the meeting. Where everyone got to say what they were up to lately and share some of their stories with all of us. It’s always fun to hear what you guys are up to and laugh at Harry’s hard times every month. You know we love you Harry See you all at the next meeting.

TOOL DESCRIPTIONS

HAMMER: Originally employed as a weapon of war, the hammer nowadays is used as a kind of divining rod to locate the most expensive parts not far from the object we are trying to hit. Also used for fingernail removal.

DRILL PRESS: A tall upright machine useful for suddenly snatching flat metal bar stock out of your hands so that it smacks you in the chest and flings your beer across the room, splattering it against your freshly painted Chevelle.

PLIERS: Used to round off bolt heads and to open beer bottles.

If you have a funny tool description, email it to me and I will get it in the newsletter.

MORE TO COME!

Black boxes

The National Transportation Safety Board recently divulged they had covertly funded a project with the U.S. auto makers for the past 5 years, whereby the auto makers were installing black box voice recorders in 4 wheel drive pickup trucks and SUV's in an effort to determine in fatal accidents, the circumstances in the last 15 seconds before the crash. They were surprised to find in 43 of the 50 states they recorded last words of drivers in 61.2 percent of fatal crashes were:  "Oh Shit!"

Only the states of Louisiana, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Mississippi, Arkansas, Alabama, & Texas were different, where 89.3 percent of the final words were: "Hold my beer, I'm gonna try somethin'!!"

EMAIL NOTES

JR,

I can't remember if I have already sent this. My computer crashed shortly after your visit, so I'm just trying to play catch up. Here is a picture of a little boy that was given a present from your toy-drive. His smile is amazing. Thanks again for all that you do for us during Christmas time. The presents really cheer up the children.

Angie,

It was our pleasure and to see a smiling child with the WACO donated toy makes it even more worth the effort.  Please keep the pictures coming and I will post them on our web site and in our newsletter.

Thank you,

JR

2006 CHEVELLE CALENDARS

Hello One and All,

I just wanted to give everyone a heads up that the 2006 Chevelle and El Camino Calendar is now shipping.  You can order on-line at our newly updated site: or call me at 314-621-3666, Monday through Friday, 9am to 5pm.

We’ve also launched a new calendar this year.  We’re doing a Nova calendar and so far it is selling very well.  Please tell your Nova friends about it.  We’ve also added a couple new items to the web site.  Of note is the new book by Motorbooks International.  It’s a hardback book titled “Original Chevelle 1964-1972 A Restorers Guide”.  I was fortunate enough to be tapped as one of the photographers for the book so you’ll see many familiar cars.  Like Bob Wallis’ ’64 and Kirby DeMott’s ’72, just to mention a couple.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving and a safe holiday season.  We’ll see you on the show fields next summer!
