A portion of time may be spent performing individual tasks related to the unit; however, supervisory activities must constitute a primary part of the job. Supervises unit operations to ensure compliance with departmental or campus policies, procedures, and defined internal controls. Ensures accountability and stewardship of campus resources (operational, financial, and human) in compliance with departmental standards and procedures.Minimum QualificationsGood knowledge of: painting equipment, materials, and techniques used to apply paint, stain, varnish, and similar products; painting safety techniques. Some knowledge of supervisory practices.Experience: determining suitable paint and stain products to use in various applications; preparing surfaces and applying painting products; using and maintaining tools and equipment associated with painting; estimating time and materials for jobs; mixing, matching, and color coordinating paints and stains.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesKnowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenanceAbility to communicate and convey information effectivelyEssential FunctionsKey Responsibilities60% of Time the Painting Foreman must:Supervises journey-level painters and temporary help; plans and organizes work and evaluates staff performance; completes time sheets, accident reports, and work orders; sets schedules of work to be accomplished considering preventive maintenance and emergency conditions. Meets with individuals needing work done and defines project; advises on effect the surface, lighting conditions, and location will have on preparation; selects appropriate products for job; protects adjacent areas before painting by taping; mixes paints; selects primer and application method; uses power sprayers, rollers, brushes, and other equipment for applying paints and stains; selects and maintains tools and equipment for jobs; stores paint inventory for future use.
