WALKING

Getting Around Downtown

Downtown is the most walkable neighborhood in Pittsburgh: it's easy to walk from one end of Downtown to the other in 25 minutes or less. Getting to major destinations like sports stadiums, local museums, restaurants, and more is all accomplished easily on foot.

Three Rivers Heritage Trail

The Three Rivers Heritage Trail System is a multi-use, 24-mile riverfront trail system with segments on both banks of Pittsburgh's three rivers that provides access to city neighborhoods, business districts, and local attractions. For trail information:

Bridge Walkways

Cross the Fort Pitt and Fort Duquesne Bridges on dedicated pedestrian walkways and easily get between Point State Park and the North & South Shores.

BIKING

Healthy Ride Bike Share

Enjoy Pittsburgh's public bike sharing system, now with 20 of the city's 175 stations located in Downtown. Rides start at $2 for 30 minutes, and get unlimited 15-minute free bike rides with your Port Authority ConnectCard.

Downtown Bike Lanes

Explore Downtown using dedicated and protected bike lanes throughout the neighborhood. Use the new Mon Wharf Switchback Ramp to effortlessly bike from Point State Park to Smithfield Street, the Three Rivers Heritage Trail, and beyond.

Bike Fix-It Stations

In need of an air pump and wrench or maybe a patch kit and tire lever? Six bike fix-it stations offer free bike tools for cyclists in need of on-the-go bike repair.

Bike Racks and Shelters

Find bike racks and shelters near many destinations across Downtown, including 20 public art bike racks in the Cultural District. All Pittsburgh Parking Authority garages have free sheltered bike racks.

Bike Storage Hubs

Lease a dedicated space for your bike at the Century Building (130 7th Street) or Third Avenue Garage Bike Station.

PUBLIC TRANSIT

How to Ride

One-way fares on light rail and busses are $2.50 with a ConnectCard and $2.75 with cash. Children up to age 5 ride free with a fare-paying adult. ConnectCards are available at the Downtown Service Center and Downtown light rail stations. All-day passes are also available for $7. Inclines

The Monongahela and Duquesne Inclines have been traveling between the South Shore and scenic Mt. Washington since 1870, offering breathtaking views of Downtown and providing easy access to and from the top of the mountain with trips every 15 minutes.

Paratransit

ACCESS is a paratransit service that provides door-to-door, advanced reservation transportation, primarily serving people with disabilities, human service agencies, and people aged 65 and over. Reserve a ride by calling (412) 562-5353 or Relay 711.

Passenger Rail A

The Pennsylvanian and the Capitol Limited have daily trips through Downtown, offering connections to national destinations including Harrisburg, Philadelphia, Chicago, Washington, D.C. and New York City.
