CLASS USE

[pic]Schedule your class for library research or instruction, or arrange for curricular materials to be used in your classroom. Check for availability on our calendar link on hsnlibrary, and contact us (ext1152) to schedule a class.

PLEASE NOTE THESE LIBRARY PROCEDURES

1. Study hall students report directly to the library and stay the entire period. Attendance will be taken in FileMaker and show in your class lists. For the most part, please do not issue passes to the library in the middle of a study hall. Remind students that they have access to the library for “quick” visits before and after school, between periods, and during lunch.

2. If students should need to use the library during your class, please send along a pass. In the event of an emergency, we would need to know who, from where, etc. This makes a smoother process on the receiving end, and prevents the game of “20 Questions” when students show up in the library. Please check ahead for space or computer availability if sending more than 5 students from class.

3. Replacement ID cards for students can be purchased in the library for $3.

4. Staff should request replacement ID badges from Karen Giornesto (kxg11) in computer services. Be sure to include the building in which you receive mail in your request!

Last but not Least

1. We have an extensive video collection to supplement the curriculum. Ask for a copy of the video list. Be sure to follow the guidelines for classroom use.

2. Staff members may check out materials for an unlimited amount of time. This includes fun, leisure reading material!

3. A professional library is located in the “loft.” The library is wireless, so you can use your laptop. A printer and phone are available for your use.

4. Do you have a question related to copyright or plagiarism? Check out the district’s copyright link

5. We are always open to your recommendations for purchase or websites for your curriculum that you would like to have in the library or have available on our webpage.
