COURSE DESCRIPTION:

• Calculus is the study of change. It is a powerful subject that has uses in science, economics, engineering, and other areas of study.

• Calculus depends on strong backgrounds in Algebra and Geometry. We will take time to review those topics as they become necessary.

• There are two main types of Calculus: Differential and Integral. We will study both strands on an introductory level.

• This course is NOT sufficient preparation for the AP Calculus AB Exam.

Haverford High School Mathematics Department’s expectations for students:

4. Homework must be clearly attempted every night to receive credit.

5. All students are expected to take daily notes, complete practice problems and participate in class discussions and group work.

6. In order to be successful in math, you must review and practice concepts each night. When studying for a test or quiz, redo problems done in class to reinforce the concepts.

7. If you fall behind or do not understand a topic or concept, after school help is always available. Make an appointment with me.

8. Be responsible for your own learning, ask questions and have fun!!!!!

Homework Policy:

• Homework will be assigned and graded through My Math Lab. Assignments will be worth 10 points, and they will be scored on correctness. You will always have 2 chances to input the correct answer online, and you can receive partial credit.

20% Quizzes, Homework, and all other assignments
