Cells Foldable

Cells Foldable

FOLDABLE WORK: Animal Cell (Drawing from text-must be drawn, labeled and colored)...

Hot Dog Style...With a tab on the outside labeled "Animal Cell"....and then tabs below labeling the following organelles:

cell membrane, nucleus, nucleolus, nuclear envelope, (centrioles *Animal cells only), mitochondria, lysosomes, golgi apparatus, smooth endoplasmic reticulum, rough endoplasmic reticulum, ribosomes;

INSIDE the description/function should be given...

SMOOTH ER: contains enzymes that help synthesize/make lipids such as steroids; also helps detoxify and process chemicals.

ROUGH ER: has ribsomes (therefore "rough")...attached to surface...helps to make proteins for export from cell.

ANIMAL CELL

Cell Membrane- Thin flexible barrier around a cell; regulates what enters & leaves a cell.

Nucleus- Structure that contains the cells genetic materials (DNA) & controls the cell’s activities.

Nucleolus- Small dense region within most nuclei in which the assembly of proteins begins.

Nuclear Membrane- layer of 2 membranes that surrounds the nucleus of the cell.

Centrioles *animal

Cell only! One of two tiny structures located in the cytoplasm animal cells near the nuclear

envelope.

Mitochondria Converts chemical energy of food into compounds THE CELL CAN USE for energy-

Power.

Lysosomes Filled with enzymes needed to break down materials in the cell (clean up crew);

Golgi Apparatus Stack of membranes that modifies, sorts & packages proteins from the E.R (UPS);

Smooth Endoplasmic Contains enzymes that help synthesize/make lipids such as steroids; also helps detoxify

Reticulum` and process chemicals

Rough Endoplasmic has ribsomes (therefore “rough”)…attached to surface…helps to make proteins for export

Reticulum from cell.

Ribosomes made of RNA & protein…this is where proteins are assembled/made.

PLANT CELL

Chloroplasts *Plants

Only Organelle found in plants & some other organisms that captures energy from sunlight & converts it to chemical energy.

Cell Wall *Plants

Only Strong supporting layer around the cell membrane in plants, algae and some bacteria.

Vacuole *Very large &

Found in plants Cell organelle that stores materials such as water, salts, proteins, & carbohydrates.
