Parent Instructions for Theme Nights

(What you need to do to help your child participate!)

September 19 – Crazy Hair Night Help your child make their hair as crazy as they want! Look up Awana Crazy Hair on Google Images and you will see lots of ideas. There will be a contest for the craziest hair.

October 17 – Dress Up Like Your Favorite Bible Character Nigh & Pastor Night You can do this as simply (bathrobe) or as elaborately as you’d like. Pastor will be visiting each club, so you might want to talk with your clubber about a question they could ask him. You might also want to make an appreciation card to send as will

November 14 – Turkey Night/Canned Food Drive Bring canned food to support our food pantry during this cold time of year. We will have a contest between boys and girls to see who brings in the most food. The winning team gets a special treat. Clubbers are also invited to dress like turkeys and have a crazy time!

December 19 – Christmas Party - The kids can wear Christmas clothes if they like and we will be decorating the leaders like Christmas trees. The kids are welcome to bring in their own decorations to decorate their leaders.

January 16 – Winter Beach Party We’ll be playing games with beach balls and doing other “beachy” things. Kids can wear summer clothes over their warm clothes.

February 20 – Let Your Light Shine (Glow in the Dark) We will be doing some games with a black light, so have your kids wear their best glow in the dark gear.

March 20 – Bible Potato Head Night Every clubber is invited to turn a potato into a Bible Character or a Bible story. We really encourage you to take the time to do this with your child! This is a favorite night at Awana Club. We’ve had Queen Esther potatoes, Jonah potatoes, Noah and his ark potatoes, and of course the famous sheep potato!

April 10 – FROG Night – Everything froggy! Frog costumes will be rewarded!

May 8 – Drive in Movie Night Decorate a cardboard box to look like a car. The kids sit in their cars to enjoy a movie and popcorn. Look up Awana Drive in Movie on Google Images for ideas. Please take the time to do this one. It creates a great memory for you child!

May 15 – Awards Night and In Your Face Night All parents and family members are invited to come and celebrate the end of another year of Awana. We will have certificates for all clubbers, the kids will perform some favorite songs, and our book finishers will receive special awards. After awards, we will head outside for our annual “In Your Face” night. This is a crazy time when clubbers are able to put whipped cream pies in the faces of their leaders. It is crazy and a lot of fun. Following this, we will enjoy some real pie together before saying good-bye for the summer.

We are really encouraging parents to help their kids participate in our theme nights. This makes it much more fun for everyone. This year, theme nights will always be the 3rd Wednesday of each month (except November and April due to breaks), so it’s easy for all of us to remember!

The more you put into it, the more your child will get out of it!

Let’s make this another great year at Awana!
