Controlled demolition

The premise behind those papers was basically as follows: The Elite have long planned to replace the existing system of constitutional democracy in the United States with a permanent oligarchical regime. Over several decades they have been installing here and there, in strategic locations, the `explosives' that will bring down the existing system. To be certain of success, this controlled demolition must reach as far as the President. His Office must be undermined and its credibility destroyed. This is best achieved, not by bringing down the incumbent, ? la Nixon, but by sabotaging the legitimacy of the electoral process itself. Unless the public is satisfied that victory was secured by fair and honorable means, a substantial proportion of the American people will reject the result and call for a fresh election. Serious social unrest is inevitable, bringing street riots, looting, and immense economic uncertainty. If the result cannot be established for several months, then the public will lose confidence in the ability of the system to produce a clear winner, even if a fresh election was called. The longer the matter is allowed to drag out, the louder and more strident the calls will be for the Military to intervene and restore order. An interim `Administrator' could assume executive power ? possibly following a plebiscite of some kind to give a semblance of legitimacy to this revolutionary act. Securely in situ, the autocrat would move immediately to arrest all who opposed him. Congress would be suspended and martial law imposed.

Much of our analysis in that paper was based on an earlier one published on our website on 8 August, 2012, which was later included as an Appendix to #141. In it we showed how the Constitutional crisis had already been "predicted" in a prize-winning military essay by Lieutenant Colonel Charles J Dunlap, The Origins of the American Military Coup of 2012, which was published in 1992.

Shattered Union

Another predictive exercise was conducted in 2005 when a video game called Shattered Union was released. Here is how we described it in our earlier paper, #97:

Both the Dunlap essay and the video game anticipate, with surprising accuracy, the scenario that we see unfolding today. In paper #97 (June 2016) we looked briefly at the disruption and turmoil, both national and geopolitical, that could spring from a protracted Constitutional crisis involving the Office of the President of the United States:

Conditioning the public

The planned crisis will have greater momentum if the public already believes it could actually happen. Humanly we tend not the question the real cause behind a disturbing turn of events if we have been told in advance that it cannot be ruled out. This advance conditioning may reduce the shock to some degree but, for the Elite, it is a small price to pay if it means the vast majority of people will tamely accept the official explanation. One of the earliest hints that this crisis scenario was being seriously considered came via The Daily Show on 11 June, hosted by Trevor Noah. Presidential candidate, Senator Joe Biden, was asked for his views about the upcoming election. He replied, "My single greatest concern? That the President is going to try and steal this election." He was then asked if he had considered what would happen if President Trump refused to relinquish the presidency and vacate the White House if he lost the election. He said he had considered this possibility but was confident that senior figures in the military would not tolerate such conduct: ""I am absolutely convinced they will escort him from the White House with great dispatch [i.e. quickly and efficiently]." Given that Biden has trouble with plain English, his reply, with its use of the archaic phrase "with great dispatch," sounds like a prepared answer to a prepared question. The Elite are planting in the minds of the electorate the otherwise unthinkable possibility that a defeated President would actually refuse to leave office. President Trump added to this bizarre speculation when, in an interview with Chris Wallace of Fox News Sunday on 19 July, he refused to confirm that he would facilitate a peacful transition: "I have to see... No, I'm not going to just say `Yes'." A few days later he issued the following Tweet, calling for the 2020 Presidential election to be postponed on the grounds that, with universal mail-in voting, it could become the most inaccurate and fraudulent election in history:

Ever since then he has repeatedly questioned the legitimacy of the November election. Just a few days ago, in his televised debate with Biden on September 29th, he declared ? perhaps to the horror of millions of Americans ? that "This is going to be a fraud like you've never seen."

He's following the script. The scenario envisaged by Lieutenant Colonel Dunlap and the makers of Shattered Union is being played out before our eyes.

Adding fuel to the fire

Other parties have become embroiled in what is looking increasingly like a coordinated move by influential figures to add fuel to the fire. For example, on 11 August, in a lengthy warning to General Mark A Milley, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, two retired senior officers in the US Army ? Lieutenant Colonel John Nagl and Lieutenant Colonel Paul Yingling ? stated that the Military must decide in advance how it will act if President Trump refuses to vacate the White House on January 20. Here is how they sketched the critical moment:

"Then the clock will strike 12:01 PM, January 20, 2021, and Donald Trump will be sitting in the Oval Office. The street protests will inevitably swell outside the White House, and the ranks of Trump's private army will grow inside its grounds. The speaker of the House will declare the Trump presidency at an end, and direct the Secret Service and Federal Marshals to remove Trump from the premises. These agents will realize that they are outmanned and outgunned by Trump's private army, and the moment of decision [for the Military] will arrive."



More remarkable still is an initiative known as the Transition Integrity Project (TIP), a bipartisan consortium which came together late last year to examine the factors ? all Trump-related ? that might threaten the legitimacy and outcome of the 2020 Presidential election.
