Installing a new Jinitiator for Oracle Applications – for Windows XP and Windows 2000

Before connecting to iPROD the first time, it is recommended that you add the Oracle server to the Trusted Zone in your Internet Options. This should insure a proper and uninterrupted installation of Jinitiator on your PC.

Adding the Oracle servers to the Trusted Zone

Administrative Computing Services suggests that the Oracle server be added to the Trusted zone in Internet Options. This will eliminate Active-X problems with the Jinitiator installation. You can do this one of two ways which are listed below.

Click the following URL to add *.binghamton.edu to your Trusted Sites.



The File Download window will appear. Click on “Open” to run the script that adds the url to your Trusted Sites.

Steps for adding to Trusted Zone:

• Close all browser windows

• Start Internet Explorer

• Navigation path: Tools ( Internet Options ( Security Tab ( Trusted Sites ( Sites Button

• Enter: in the "Add this Web site to the zone:" box and click the Add button. Make sure that the "Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone" box is not checked.

• Click OK

• Click on OK in the Internet Options window to complete the task.

Connecting to iPROD to install Jinitiator

• Click on the link to iPROD from the portal page

• Enter your userid and password and login

• Click on a forms based responsibility like BUPO Requestor to start the forms application

• Within 30-60 seconds you will see a dialogue box will appear asking you if want to install Oracle Jinitiator. Click YES.

• Click next to begin the installation process

• When the installation has completed, you will see the following dialogue box

• Click OK.

• Jinitiator installation is now complete and your DOS windows screen will disappear in a few seconds. You will see this next window that indicates that the applet is loading.

• If you receive the Jinitiator Security Warning below, click Grant Always

• Your Oracle Applications menu will appear momentarily.
