Some Internet Browsers will not display or open PDF Forms from the APD Forms WebsiteIt has come to the attention of APD that certain internet browsers will not display or open pdf files (forms) from the APD Forms Website. These pdf files are defined as either static or dynamic.Static PDF forms with advanced features are static forms that are handled by PDF Share Forms in a specific manner. This enables the use of digital signatures. In return, you need to use full Adobe Acrobat and enable additional features, when creating a content type.Dynamic PDF forms render on the client dynamically, and react on UI events and interactions, they can re-render on the client multiple times. Changes to the appearance of an object are possible in Adobe Reader because Adobe Reader has enough information to re-render the final output. For example, objects can change color, pagination can change, and objects can appear or disappear. If the end user clicks a button that adds a new row to a table, the form layout or structure and the data are both changed on the client at Adobe Reader. This format is also often referenced as XFA.The older Internet Explorer 11 will allow for the opening of static and dynamic pdf files which is displayed in the browser. This is because the Adobe Acrobat Toolbar has been installed as a “Manage add-ons”. See screenshot below.center10508000center502455200center50355500As you can see, the Acrobat Toolbar ‘add-on’ was installed allowing for the pdf form to be opened an filled out using the older MS Internet Explorer 11.However, the newer Microsoft Edge browser does not allow for the installing of “Extensions”, as the app store to get extensions has been blocked by JSP and will not allow for the installing of any pdf viewer. As such, only static pdf files will open and will be able to be filled out within the Edge browser. Dynamic pdf files would have to have an app installed to be displayed in the Edge browser. However, the MS Edge browser will allow you to download the pdf files to your computer, desktop, etc. and allow you to fill out the form in either the Adobe Acrobat or the Adobe Acrobat Reader.right655679Microsoft Edge (see screenshot above) will allow you to download pdf files using the save or save as tool in the upper right hand corner. The Google Chrome browser is similar to the Microsoft Edge browser, as it too, will not allow for the viewing of dynamic pdf files within the browser, but will allow for static pdf files to be displayed. In Chrome, the only option is to download the pdf file if the form is dynamic, as it will not render in the Chrome browser without a pdf tool or viewer. Users are restricted by JSP to install any plugins, add-ons, or components like Acrobat Acrobat/Reader that can display pdf files. In Chrome, in order to download pdf files, one needs to go to the “Menu” icon, then choose “Settings“.Scroll to the bottom and select “Advanced“.In the “Privacy and Security” section, select “Content settings“.right282702Scroll down and select “PDF documents“, then switch it to “On“.The Firefox browser will not display dynamic pdf files like the Edge and Chrome browsers. Firefox will at least allow you to open the pdf file in a different viewer, like the full version of the Adobe Acrobat or the Adobe Reader.-238543849149right400083101118On the top right hand corner is the option to “Open With Different Viewer’. Here, you can select the Adobe Acrobat or Adobe Reader to view either a static or dynamic pdf file.We are hoping that JSP will allow for the installing of plugins or add-ons for pdf viewers. ................
