HOMEWORK

Homework assignments are designed to provide students with opportunities to reinforce practice and apply previous learning. Assignments will take approximately 30-45 minutes every night to complete. Homework is assigned daily and will be due during the next class meeting. Answers will be provided during the next class meeting and solutions will be reviewed. Original problems must be written down, as well as all supporting work for each problem in order to receive full credit on a homework assignment. No late homework will be accepted.

Homework Grading Policy:

Homework grades are assigned based on effort and completion.

0: Missing or Incomplete (less than 50% completed, or did not show supporting work, etc)

1: Partially Complete (more than 50% completed, but less than 100%, did not show all supporting work, etc)

2: Complete (all problems attempted, with essentially correct process, and all supporting work is shown)

TEST and QUIZ REVISIONS

Revisions are allowed on tests and quizzes, using the quiz revision sheet (contact the teacher or refer to the teacher website for more information). Test revisions will be accepted up to two weeks after the test has been handed back. Quiz revisions will only be accepted if completed before the corresponding chapter test is given. This revision process helps students realize their mistakes, go through a re-teaching process, and will hopefully prevent them from making the same mistakes on future assessments. The student has the potential to earn up to half of the points lost with a quiz revision. There are no retakes or revisions on warm-up quizzes.

LATE WORK PENALTY

Every day a project or graded assignment is late, the student’s final grade will suffer a 10% penalty, up to 50%. Late homework will not be accepted for a grade. Quiz revisions will not be accepted for a grade after the chapter test has been given for that unit.

IF A STUDENT IS ABSENT…

1. As soon as you return, see the teachers!!!! (Even if you return on a day when the course does not meet)

2. Copy the notes you missed while you were absent BEFORE returning to class.

3. Make arrangements to stay after school when you return for extra help.

4. See the student handbook for time allowances on missing work from absences.

CELL PHONE/IPAD MISUSE:

Cell phones will not be allowed in class at any time! If a cell phone is seen or heard, it will be taken away from the student and turned into the main office (per the student handbook).

iPads should be brought to class daily and fully charged. Students will be encouraged to take math notes on their iPad as well as in a paper notebook. The iPads will also provide students with the use of a graphing calculator, and access to our online textbook. Other free apps will be utilized in class for educational purposes.

No texting, social media, or other online distracters will be allowed or tolerated in the classroom setting on the iPad. There will be no picture taking/video recording of anyone in the class without their permission (including the teachers!). Do not take control of the Apple TV without permission. The school acceptable use policy must be followed, and disruptions will be dealt with according to the behavior code.
