Before You Start

At your new position as a server at a local café, you will earn tips from the customers you serve. As a server, you will take customers’ orders, deliver their food, and give them the checks for their orders.

The Hometown Café where you work has daily specials written on a whiteboard for customers to see as they enter the front door of the café.

Today’s specials are shown on the board at the right. Customers usually order daily specials by number.

1. The customers at Table 1 only ordered drinks. All six people ordered a fountain drink. Write an expression for the total of the drinks ordered at Table 1. What is the total of the order, excluding tax and tip?
