Applications received by the priority deadline of April 12th will have their aid eligibility finalized before the earliest bill due date, May 20th, 2019.

If you are an incoming freshman, do not complete this application. Please make an appointment to speak with a Financial Aid Counselor regarding your summer aid options.

General Summer Eligibility Requirements: Admitted as a UMBC degree-seeking student. Meeting the Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) standards: . Valid 2018-2019 FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) on file with our office. o Visit to apply online with our school code: 002105. All requested documents submitted to our office. Enrolled in all courses for summer (all sessions) prior to submitting this 2019 Summer Financial Aid Application.

Additional Federal Pell Grant Requirements: Be eligible for the Pell Grant as determined by your 2018-2019 FAFSA. We strongly encourage that your 2019-2020 FAFSA be on file, as well. o If you are ineligible for summer Pell Grant funding from 2018-2019, you will be reviewed for summer Pell Grant eligibility based upon your 2019-2020 FAFSA. o Or, if your Pell Grant eligibility is higher based on your 2019-2020 FAFSA, you will be awarded the higher Pell Grant. o All requested documents for both years must be submitted for this review.

Additional Federal Stafford Loan Requirements: Stafford Loans are available if you have remaining loan eligibility from the Fall 2018-Spring 2019 award year: Be enrolled for the Summer Session I and/or Summer Session II terms for at least 6 credits combined. o Audited courses do not count toward enrollment for financial aid purposes. You will be offered maximum Stafford Loan eligibility: o You can accept all or part of the offered loan(s) via myUMBC. o Once accepted, funds will appear on your billing account as pending financial aid. A valid Federal Stafford Loan Master Promissory Note (MPN) and Entrance Counseling must be on record. o If you have not previously borrowed through the Stafford Loan program, visit for more information.

When Will Aid Apply to My Bill? The summer term consists of all Summer Sessions. For this reason, final aid eligibility will be reviewed following the last add/drop date of Summer Session II. o Aid will be approved or adjusted based upon your final enrollment for the combined Summer Sessions. o Financial Aid will be applied to your billing account in mid-July. Federal Stafford Loans and/or the Pell Grant may not cover your total summer charges. o Calculate your anticipated expenses and anticipated summer aid to determine your out-of-pocket cost. o Plan for out of pocket payment, or consider additional loan options. If your anticipated aid will not cover your balance and you do not pay the difference prior to your bill due date, a late fee will be assessed.
