PEOPLE OF THE MILLENNIUM POWER POINT PROJECT

Each student will pair up with one other student to create a power point presentation that showcases how important people from the Middle Ages, Renaissance, and the Age of Discovery have impacted history. Students will be given their person randomly and complete all work for the project in the classroom from 5/6/13-5/20/13. Throughout the project students will receive tutorials on how to use Microsoft power point.

Overall Presentation: (points)

1. Apply a template that compliments the assigned person of the Millennium ( 2 )

2. Slide transitions- slide transitions should be applied to all slides. You may use the same slide transition or a variety of different transitions. ( 2 )

3. Miscellaneous- the overall presentation. Are the pictures placed haphazardly (just anywhere)? Are there typos? Did the student waste time in class instead of working on the project? ( 4 )

4. Include at least 4 sounds in your power point presentation. ( 2 )

Slide One: Title Page

1. Create a title for your power point presentation. It should at least include the name of your assigned person. ( 2 )

2. Create a subtitle that includes the names of the people in your group ( 2 )

3. Include at least one picture of your assigned person. ( 2 )

4. Include a picture(s) of something that relates to your assigned person. ( 2 )

5. Include music that compliments your assigned person ( 2 )

Slide Two- Six: Mini-Biography

You will have three slides to tell the story of your selected person.

Slide 2

1. Include the dates of this person’s life (birthday/and the day they died) ( 2 )

2. Include a new picture(s) of your selected person. ( 2 )

Slide 3

1. Include a textbox describing where this person made their impact on history. ( 2 )

2. Include a picture from a map that shows where this person made their impact on history. ( 2 )

3. Include red stars to show where this person made an impact on history. ( 2 )

4. You will also use custom animation on the red stars to draw attention to it. ( 2 )

5. Add smaller textboxes that include the names of places to compliment the red stars. ( 2 )

Slide 4-6

Over the next two slides tell the story of this person. You will use books from the classroom/library, Connections to Today (your history textbook), and Internet sources, to research your assigned person. You will be paraphrasing your assigned person’s biography (not plagiarizing). Remember to record your references for the last slide.

Mini-Biography Slides 4-6

1. Include picture(s) of items relating to your assigned person. For example if your assigned person is known for inventing something, you should include a picture of the invention. Choose pictures that help tell the story of your assigned person. You should have at least one picture on each slide. ( 3 )

2. Include textboxes that tell the story of this person. ( 3 )

3. Include (at least) two custom animations (more if you like) ( 2 )

4. Include one animation gif that relates to the assigned person ( 2 )

Slide 7: Primary Source

1. Find a primary source relating to the assigned person. Possible primary sources could be paintings, writings, artifacts, tells, etc., that were made by your assigned person. Important to note-This will be easier for some than others depending on which person you have. As always if you are having difficulty finding what you need just ask your teacher. ( 2 )

2. On this slide you will answer the following question. What does this primary source tell us about your assigned person? Make sure to answer in complete sentences. ( 2 )

3. Include a picture or sample of this primary source. ( 2 )

4. Include a hyperlink to the website where you discovered the primary source ( 2 )

Slides 8-9: How has this person impacted the world?

For this slide you will answer the three questions about your assigned person.

• What was your assigned person’s major accomplishment(s)?

• Why is this person important to history?

• What has this person done to impact us today?

2. Include new pictures of the assigned person and things relating to the assigned person. ( 2 )

11. Check with Mr. Berrodin to make sure that it is an actual primary source.
