Grants for Nonprofits

Grants are money given to nonprofit 501c3 organizations from corporations, foundations, and government entities. There are some grants available to private businesses mostly through the government. Unlike loans, you do not have to pay back grants. Grants are very competitive and sometimes have restrictions. To increase your chances of obtaining a grant, be sure to read and follow the guidelines carefully. You should also be prepared to send in any documentation requested and know how to submit a letter of inquiry and write a full-length grant proposal. But do not send a full-length grant proposal or any additional documentation unless requested. So that you do not waste time on grants that you do not qualify for remember to read the eligibility requirements as well. Some grants have geographical restrictions. If you are a newly established non-profit be sure to check whether you qualify for a particular grant before applying.
