Periodic Table Foldable – Use your notes / book

1. Fold construction paper as shown: (3 folds total)

2. With all 3 folds folded, do the following:

• On the vertical fold, draw up/down arrows and label it group / family on the OUTSIDE of flap.

• On the horizontal fold, draw left/right arrows and label it period on the OUTSIDE of flap.

3. On the large flap to the right of the group / family fold, draw a box to indicate the box on a periodic table. Put the following in the box:

a. Atomic number – include definition

b. Element Name – choose any element

c. Symbol – use for the element chosen

d. Atomic mass (atomic weight) – include definition

4. INSIDE of group/family flap – repeat arrows, label again group / family AND define.

5. INSIDE of period flap – repeat arrow, label again period AND define.

6. INSIDE of foldable – USE drawn outline of the periodic table: HIGHLIGHT stair-step division and NUMBER the 18 groups/families and 7 periods.

7. LABEL and DEFINE or DESCRIBE(w/ properties from notes) the following on your periodic table outline:

*Alkali Metal Family *Alkaline Earth Metal Family * Halogen Family

* Noble/Inert Gas Family *Metals * Non-metals * Metalloids

* Transition metals (transition elements) including Actinide series

* Rare-Earth Metals (Lanthanide)
