Hole In My Life is an account of Jack Gantos’ experiences as a young man. He recounts the series of events leading up to one bad decision that changes his life forever. In reading his story, we will explore the genre of memoir to understand its structure and purpose. We will also build our vocabulary as we learn new terms and practice strategies for retaining those terms. Finally, through our reading of this text and accompanying nonfiction articles, we will practice comprehension strategies such as summarizing and visualizing as we develop our skills of identifying the main ideas and supporting details.
