This course presents the ACE Integrated Fitness Training? (ACE IFT?) Model as a comprehensive system for designing individualized programs based on each client’s unique health, fitness, and goals. The information covered by this course and the ACE IFT Model will help students learn how to facilitate rapport, adherence, self-efficacy and behavior change in clients, as well as design programs that help clients to improve posture, movement, flexibility, balance, core function, cardiorespiratory fitness, and muscular endurance and strength.ADOPTED TEXT(S):ACE Personal Trainer Manual (University Bundle) 4th EditionAmerican Council on Exercise ISBN: 978-1-890720-32-2COURSE OBJECTIVES:At the completion of this course the student will:Understand the application of principles of exercise science, human anatomy, and biomechanics to movement design and exercise instruction.Know principles and methods of training for cardiorespiratory fitness, muscular strength and muscular endurance.Understand the basic principles of nutrition and how those principles relate to exercise and the human bodyDemonstrate the proper usage of various commercial fitness machines and equipment, using appropriate exercise guidelines and spotting techniques.Understand how to perform health screenings and how to test and evaluate clients in order to determine the client’s physical fitness levels.Design weight training exercise programs for developing muscular strength and muscular endurance.COURSE METHODOLOGYThe instructor course materials are provided as a guideline for teaching the course. Included in the course topic outline is a chronological template for presenting text book chapters and their corresponding page numbers, Master the Manual Workbook topics and their corresponding page numbers, quizzes, handouts and class activities. Instructors may find the information found in the ACE Personal Trainer Home Study Program helpful for expanding course lectures or designing other class activities.
