JOB DESCRIPTION: TEACHER

POSITION SUMMARY: The Teacher is responsible to assist with the daily operations of the center. The Teacher reports to and works closely with the Administrator/Program Director and in cooperation with other Sand Box Staff.

REPORTS TO: Administrator

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school or its equivalent as determined by the Wisconsin Department of Instruction

• Diploma in Early Childhood which is approved by the department

• Registry Certificate Level 12 or higher

EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS:

• A proven work history

• Experience working in an early childhood setting or service industry

• Experience working with persons from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds

SKILL QUALIFICATIONS:

• Demonstrates knowledge of DCF 251 Licensing Rules for Group Child Care Centers

• Demonstrate knowledge of YoungStar Requirements and/or National Accreditation Standards

• Demonstrate knowledge of Team Building Philosophies

• Demonstrate knowledge Social Emotional Foundations of Early Childhood

• Must be capable of working independently and communicate effectively in a courteous and diplomatic manner with children, parents, and staff

• Demonstrate leadership qualities

• Demonstrate personal and professional integrity

• Maintain a sense of humor, tact, assertiveness and sensitivity

• Maintain a neat, well-groom appearance appropriate for a professional environment

JOB DUTIES:

1. Maintain a physical environment that conforms to government and center standards of safety and cleanliness and which is conducive to the optimal growth and development of the children who attend the center.

2. Maintain a cooperative manner in intra-staff relationships, demonstrating a positive leadership role at all times.

3. Maintain the center’s activities in the absence of the Administrator/Program Director to assure follow-through with daily activities.

4. Assist all personnel in managing and helping children, parents and staff.

5. Encourage cooperation among the staff to ensure a cohesive work group.

6. Maintain confidentiality regarding child, parent and employee matters.

7. Adhere to the mission, policies, and procedures as outlined in the handbooks.
