Course Assessment Plan:  Students take quizzes and tests periodically and also take assessments by doing presentations and interpersonal interactions. These evaluation elements make up 50% of the students’ grade.

The remaining 50% is comprised of at least two daily grades per week which can be based on class work, homework, class participation or miscellaneous assignments.  The lowest daily grade score in each nine-week marking period is dropped from the student’s average.

Classroom Expectations:

1.)  All electronic devices are to be turned off and put away during class.

2.)  Be respectful of others and follow directions of school personnel.

3.)  Be on time and come prepared.

4.)  Keep the classroom tidy. Books are to be put away and organized.

5.)  Food and drinks are prohibited in the classroom.

Retest Policy:

All students will have the opportunity to be reassessed if he/she make a grade below 75 on any assignment that counts as a major grade.  However, the opportunity may not take place during the regular instructional day, so parents will have to make arrangements to pick up their child.

In FBISD there are two options that may be used to be in compliance with the retest policy: retesting and progressive testing/cumulative testing.  For this course, students will be provided the opportunity to retest.  The retest may include items from all objectives covered on the original test or only those not mastered by the student.  However, students must attend a tutorial session or complete other approved remediation activities assigned prior to taking the retest. The tutorial or remediation activities must take place prior to the next major assessment in the course.  The maximum score that may be earned on a retest is 75%.

Make-up Work Policy:

A designated area in the classroom will be clear to all students to ensure they get the work missed due to an absence.  It is the student’s responsibility to pick up the missed work.  The due date of the assignment will be provided to the student.

Late Work Policy:

Students will be allowed to submit late work but no more than three days after the assignment is due.  However, for each late day, the student’s grade is reduced by 10 points.

Supplies and Materials Needed:  Students will be required to keep:

• A notebook for their work

• Loose leaf paper

• Pencils

For the health of all students, the following items are requested of each student:

• One box of tissues

• One bottle of hand sanitizer
