Why I volunteer as a HOG officer for El Cajon HOG..........

Well there are many reason starting with what makes me smile the most about HOG is when I put together a ride and the chapter turns out in large numbers and when I'm going down the road and I look behind me and I see headlights for as long as the eye can see.

We as road captains and ride leaders work so hard to put together rides and adventures and the greatest reward that we receive from our members is seeing you guys come out in large support. It's because of you guys, why we enjoy our jobs so much and can't wait until the next ride.

I hope you can be able to have and feel the enjoyment I get seeing you guys and your smiles and sharing the adventures with you. It's because of your participation, is why I enjoy my job.

From me to ALL of you El Cajon HOG members, thank you for the opportunity to have fun with you and serve as your Director. I hope to see you again soon at one of our great HOG events.

Thank You

For a few months now I've been talking about our sister chapter, Foothills HOG from Chandler AZ. coming out to visit us in May. Their ride out here is called AFEC, which stands for "Annual Foothills El Cajon" ride. 2015 was the first-year Foothills came out here and we hosted them, then in 2016 we went out to see them in Arizona and they hosted us, so now it's our turn again for 2017.

Wally has been instrumental in building relationships with other chapters, like Foothills, and he's entrusting me to do that same. So that got me thinking, how did this annual ride get started? I decided to ask Pete Argenziano, the current Director of Foothills HOG, his take on how this all got started. The story goes back a few years, and all started with a forum on the Internet called . On that forum they created this special Road Glide flag, and the flag travels all around the country. People volunteer to get the flag from one location to another. Well someone in San Diego was requesting the flag, so a guy From Texas road the flag as far as Chandler AZ. Pete and some others agreed to take it the rest of the way to San Diego. While in the area, they went to El Cajon Harley and ended up meeting some of our HOG Members.

So the next year they were planning another trip out here and Wally met up with them in Albuquerque at Harley Officers Training (HOT) and they wanted some advice on a hotel to stay at in Ramona. Wally of course helped them out and even decided to meet them with some of our other members for dinner when they were here. And that is when Wally and Pete really decided to start working together on these rides. The rest is history.

So I encourage you to come out on May 20th when we take Foothills on a ride to the beach, then you can become part of the history too!

Our last LOH event was Paint & Party Potluck night. We had a good turnout & everybody's paintings were awesome! Katy & Karrissa were very good teachers & the stencil motorcycles were a great idea! Thank you all for coming out to make a spectacular LOH event.

Next month is Bling Potluck night at Kim & Patrick's home on May 26th. This is due to the ECLR & Yuma Baby Rides.

MEMBERSHIP -- Denise H.

El Cajon Harley-Davidson

Greetings Fellow H.O.G. Members!!

I want to say "Welcome Spring!! " You are a wonderful sight! Where we can get out and ride our Harley's more! I know it sounds like we live back East, which I know we don't, but we sure didn't have much chance to ride with all that rain we had during the Winter time, so it is nice to get out in warmer weather.

By the time you get this, those of us that planned to go on the ECLR ride to the Grand Canyon, are back home safe and sound.

Speaking of us, I am referring to the members of El Cajon Harley-Davidson H.O.G. Chapter. Currently the member

count is 167and rising! Calling all H.O.G. members to help me get the word out to those that have not renewed

their membership yet. I will be sending emails out soon, to those that I haven't heard from yet. You have done a great job, so keep it up!

Those that are new to the Chapter, we welcome one and all who want to join in on the fun. There is one requirement to joining the Chapter. You will have to keep current with your National Membership each year. Then when you are current with your National, you can join the local Chapter for only $25.00 for the year.

When renewing your National Membership, you need to go to "members." and sign up for a full membership. Ladies, you can get your own National membership, or become an associate member on your husband's National membership. It cost less and you can still join in on the fun at the local level. Go to members. and it will give you all the information you need.

If you haven't heard yet, when you become a member of the H.O.G. local Chapter, your name gets put in a drawing with everyone else's names for a chance to win a $25.00 gift card to Harley-Davidson. This only happens at the monthly Chapter meeting and you must attend to win!

If there are any questions that you have about your membership, just call 1-800-ClubHog. Should a problem arise, or if you have moved recently you will need to call them. Takes only a few minutes. Then you can hop on your bike for some "wind therapy", whether it's a ride with us, by yourself or with a friend or two.

If you are in need a of a name patch, it is only $10.00. Just let me know if you need one and I will take care of it for you. Should only take a few weeks to get it. We even have a lady that is there at the Chapter meetings, that will sew it on for you, for a reasonable price.

Lastly, if you haven't been receiving Raul's weekly e-blast, please let me know and I will be sure that the information is correct in our email system. We want to make sure that you are getting the latest news and up to date information, so you don't miss on anything important!!

Enough talk......LET"S RIDE!!
