|Developing methods for eliminating racial and ethnic disparities; and/or |

|Evaluating the effectiveness of intervention strategies. |

|Pfizer Fellowship in Health Literacy/Clear Health Communication |

|Supports career development of talented junior faculty and researchers in study of health literacy, which is one of the strongest predictors |

|of health and health outcomes. The use of clear health communication is an important component in addressing this issue, especially for |

|patients who have low health literacy. Pfizer is committed to advancing research that addresses ways to improve low health literacy, |

|including the use of clear health communication tools and interventions. |

|Suggested criteria for applications that: |

|Focus on one of the following public health topics: diet/exercise, smoking cessation, prevention, disease management, and adherence to |

|treatment regimens; |

|Incorporate interdisciplinary approaches and knowledge; |

|Bridge the academic and practicing communities. |
