All applicants are required to submit this form and a 500-word statement of goals and interests; an optional cover letter can include any other pertinent information. Applicants must also submit three letters of recommendation electronically via the online admissions application. Admissions examination scores (GRE, TOEFL), transcripts, a writing sample, and University application forms must be submitted to the Office of Admissions. The University admissions fee can be paid online at .

Applicants who wish to be considered for the LeRoy Collins Fellowship in State Politics should submit a separate statement of no more than 500 words indicating why they wish to hold the fellowship and their specific interests in state politics and/or public policy.

All applicants intending to complete their PhD in the department are considered for departmental funding, but full consideration can be ensured only if all admission material is received by the departmental deadline of January 15th.
