Job Title: Research Associate/Fellow in Infrastructure Asset Management

School/Department: Division of Infrastructure, Geomatics & Architecture

Salary: £25,513 to £37,394 per annum, depending on skills and experience (minimum £28,695 with relevant PhD). Salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance

Job Family and Level: Research and Teaching Level 4 (Appointment will be Level 4 Career training grade where an appointment is made before PhD has been completed)

Contract Status: Full time until 31 January 2016

Hours of Work: 36.25 hours per week

Location: Nottingham Transportation Engineering Centre, Department of Civil Engineering, University Park, University of Nottingham

Reporting to: Professor John Andrews

Purpose of the New Role:

To carry out research into infrastructure asset management for railway systems.

| |Main Responsibilities |

|1. |To deliver research as part of a collaborative team and contribute to the achievement of specific research objectives. |

|2. |To collaborate in writing papers for submission to journals and conferences and prepare progress reports on the results of research. |

|3. |To present the results of research at project progress meetings and at conferences. |

| |To assist in the co-ordination of the research and related administrative tasks, including liaising with external project collaborators |

| |and providing assistance with supervision of doctoral students. |

|4. |To undertake reviews onto state-of-the-art asset management modelling techniques. |

|5. |To undertake research to produce asset degradation models, intervention (maintenance) models, and decision support (optimisation) models |

| |with regard to both networked and non-networked assets. |

|6. |To liaise with a Network Rail staff in the development, implementation and application of modelling algorithms to predict optimal asset |

| |management decisions, as well as in testing and validating these algorithms. |
