Attn: Treasury Secretary, Mr. Timothy Geithner

Re: The Daily Show

Dear Secretary Geithner,

Thanks to The Daily Show with Jon Stewart (aired July 29, 2009), I figured out what we have in common. We both have a vacant house on the market that just won’t sell! What’s even more ironic is that we both moved due to a job relocation!

My guess is that The United States Treasury Secretary has not defaulted on his loan for his vacant house. I also assume that you make enough money in your current job to pay for two mortgages. Plus, you probably have enough savings built up from your past places of employment to weather any financial hardship. Needless to say, I am sure that you are not in the process of begging your bank to accept a short sale offer or deed in lieu. You surely aren’t about to foreclose on your house.

In case you forgot, most of us are not like you. We simply do not have the financial ability to pay for two mortgages. So, what would your advice be for a family of four who has already moved? Who has tried for a year to get a short sale approved? Who watched their mortgage service provider sell part of their mortgage just to take a deed in lieu off the table? Who is now in foreclosure proceedings?

Sincerely

CC: President Obama, Vice President Biden
