Directions for Educational Philosophy and Goals

Provide a statement of your educational philosophy and submit it to your ULM supervisor. The statement should articulate your beliefs about the: 1. concept of learning, 2. concept of teaching, 3. your goals for students, 4. how you implement your philosophy, and 4. a professional growth plan.

Typically, a belief is stated and then followed with a brief explanation of why you hold this belief. You may want to use Chism’s (1998) questions to guide your writing: How do people learn? How do I facilitate that learning? What goals do I have for my students? Why do I teach the way that I do? What do I do to implement these ideas about teaching and learning in the classroom? Are these things working? Do my students meet the goals? How do I know they are working? What are my future goals for growth as a teacher?
