1. A student carries out an experiment to investigate the relationship between weight of an object and the weight of the water being displaced. The arrangement of the apparatus is shown in Diagram 1.1.

The student starts the experiment by immersing a 0.5 N of slotted weight, Wo into a beaker of water as shown in Diagram 1.2. The reading of the compression balance, m is recorded. The student also calculate the value of Ww using Ww = mg.

The experiment is repeated with different weight of slotted weight, Wo = 1.0 N, 1.5 N, 2.0 N and 2.5 N. The corresponding readings for the compression balance are shown in Diagram 1.3, 1.4, 1.5 and 1.6 on pages 3 and 4.

Murid itu memulakan eksperimen dengan menenggelamkan pemberat berslot 0.5 N, Wo ke dalam bikar yang berisi air seperti ditunjukkan dalam Rajah 1.2. Bacaan neraca mampatan, m direkodkan. Murid itu menghitung nilai Ww menggunakan Ww = mg.

Eksperimen diulang dengan menggunakan pemberat berslot yang berbeza, Wo = 1.0 N, 1.5 N, 2.0 N dan 2.5 N. Bacaan yang sepadan untuk neraca mampatan ditunjukkan pada Rajah 1.3, 1.4, 1.5 dan 1.6 di halaman 3 dan 4.
