|To provide specialised experience and knowledge in supporting a child or young person with social and behaviour difficulties in the home or in settings, to |

|take part in social opportunities, while ensuring their individual needs are met in a safe and positive way. |

|Anticipated Outcomes of Post |

|Enabling all children and young people with emotional, learning and behaviour difficulties to take part in short breaks in their home and or their community, to|

|take part in activities they choose. Improving there social skills and self esteem through these life experiences. |

|Improvement in a child or young person’s behaviour in a range of setting. |

|List Key Duties and accountabilities of the post |

|Responsible for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children at all times |

|To be responsible for the practical application of the Torbay Council Equal Opportunities Policy in all aspects of the work. |

|To work with the child or young person and their family to prepare them for proposed outings or trips. |

|To ensure a safe and secure environment is in place when taking children or young people into the community. |

|To assist children with their personal care when required. |

|To undertake administration of medication, and or other support processes |

|To be aware of and observe safety rules and follow practice guidelines at all times and in all settings as well as in the public domain attended with the child |

|or young person.. |

|To support and encourage children to develop positive relationships with other children and young people. |

|To follow the established procedure of reporting back to the appointing person on progress and or concerns after each visit or outing. |

|To participate in a training programme which will include attending induction training and specific any training requirements? i.e break away techniques and |

|de-escalation methods |

|Attend regular supervision meetings and attend family review meeting when requested |

|To promote the communication method of the child or young person in the wider community. |

|To be responsible for liaising with family and or Carers of the child or young person |

|To record accurately a report on each visit to the family and forward to the Commissioning person regularly or asap in the case of any concerns or issues. |

|Give examples of the typical types of problems and decisions the post will be required to make |

|Children and Young People who have emotional and or behaviour disabilities have great difficulty integrating into activities and their communities they live in.|

|One of the difficulties for this role is to manage their behaviour in unfamiliar settings. Should an incident occur the Enabler would make the decision whether |

|to proceed with the activity or remove the child or young person? They will have consequences they have to judge as to the likelihood of how the behaviour can |

|be managed and the process for ending an activity. |

|Budgetary / Financial Responsibilities of the post |

|Finance responsibilities are to ensure that all claims for pay, mileage and subsistence claims are completed clearly and accurately . Then along with |

|appropriate receipts are forwarded to the commissioner of the work in time for the Payroll cut of dates each month. |

|Responsibility for the implementation of all areas of Torbay’s Health and Safety Policies. |

|Normal Physical effort for 80% of the work |

|20% of the work will require physical effort to contain a child or young person or help to move a child or young person to a safe place for their own or the |

|As this post meets the requirements in respect of exempted questions under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, all applicants who are offered employment |

|will be subject to a criminal record check (Disclosure) from the Criminal Records Bureau before the appointment is confirmed. This will include details of ALL |
