Required Group Interview

The interview session provides the faculty with an opportunity to learn more about an applicant and their interest outside of PT, to observe the applicant's communication skills and to assess their ability to function in a group setting. The success of the DPT class is enhanced by good group dynamics and interpersonal communications. In the interview, 3-4 applicants will engage in small group conversations with a PTRS faculty member, and a current DPT student if their schedule permits. Each applicant will have time to respond to all questions. Applicants may also use this time to elaborate on their interest in this DPT, elaborate on their unique academic and life experiences and identify yourself as a viable candidate and suitable match for our program. Applicants are expected to be engaging, to respond to questions extemporaneously and appropriately, and to elaborate on their specific interest in enrolling at the University of Maryland. This campus visit also provides the applicant with an opportunity to determine if structure of the PTRS curriculum, pace of instruction and volume of material presented is compatible with their learning style.
