Course Overview

This course is intended to provide a necessary foundation for success in Physics 12. Physics is concerned with the study of matter and energy and their interactions. The study of physics contributes to students’ intellectual growth by supporting the development within them of transferable problem-solving skills and an inquiring attitude. Although the subject is designed to meet the interests of the majority of students who will not pursue a career in physics, it provides a basis for further study in physics and related areas such as engineering.

3. Dynamics and Momentum

4. Work, Energy and Power

5. Wave Motion and Optics

6. Special Relativity

7. Nuclear Energy

Term 2 40% Tests/Quizzes* 40% B 73%-85%

Final Exam 20% Term Exam** 40% C+ 67%-72%

*Tests/Quizzes will be 80% for Term 2. C 60%-66%

**No Term 2 exam. C- 50%-59%

Important information specific to this course

Textbook: Glencoe Physics: Principles and problems.

All Physics 11 classes have the same course outline and term exams.

We may have homework quiz at the beginning of the class to check if you understand the lesson taught or homework from last class.

We will be doing labs in this course. All the lab reports have to be done in class.

Derby Car project will be counted as a lab/assignment.
