Football Pool Rules

30th Annual Football Pool RulesThe football pool runs the entire season including the playoffs and Super Bowl. The cost for the entire REGULAR season (not including playoffs) is $50.00.The cost for each OPTIONAL playoff week is $5.00. Additional points will be available for those who choose to continue. Each week players will pick all games utilizing the point spreads. The official spread is on the web site ezgoer.us each week. The weekly spreads will be modified so that no spread is a whole number (with the exception of an EVEN spread). Every whole number spread will have ? point added to it (underdog gets an additional ? point). This will eliminate all ties with the exception of an EVEN game that results in an actual tie on the field.Players will identify two games each week as their “Best Bets”.In the case of a tie (with the spread which is now only possible in an EVEN game), the game is a “push”. All choices are void (everyone gets a point). Any “Best Bets” are cancelled. No other game will be identified as a “Best Bet” for that week.If a “Best Bet” is not identified, the player will receive the last two picks in the list for that week’s games as their best bets (normally this will be Sunday and Monday night game). Likewise if the player makes only 1 best bet, then their second best bet is the last game listed (normally Monday night) that they did not already pick as a best bet (if they picked one best bet and it was Monday, they would get Sunday night as the best bet).If a player makes 3 or more best bets, the last two will be the official best bets assuming none of the best bet games have kicked off. For example, if you submit picks with teams A and B as best bets, then you revise your picks and pick teams B and C as your best bets, the official ones will be teams B and C. Another example would be if you picked the Thursday game as a best bet, then on Sunday picked 2 more best bets. In this case best bet #2 on the form will be official – Not best bet #1.Should a player communicate (either via the web site at ezgoer.us or via phone 908-553-0398 or via email kbream@) zero picks, they will receive all the teams listed first on the web pick form for each game (the favorites except in an “even” game). These are the default picks. Any pick that is not made, gets the default pick. This combined with rule 8 above means that if a player does not submit any picks they get the favorites and the last two picks as best bets for the week. When a player misses (not including defaults they get automatically) more than half the games in a week without any notification, they will not be eligible for the weekly three extra bonus points nor the $32 weekly win. If they notify prior to the games that they are taking the default picks, they will be eligible for the bonus point and weekly win prize. For example, if they send an email before the games that says “I’ll take the default picks” then they are eligible. If I hear nothing they are not.Best bets always take priority over normal picks. If a player makes a mistake and picks a normal pick of team A, but then best bets their opponent team B, team B is their pick and their best bet.All picks must be received prior to game kickoff. You may enter multiple picks on the website if you’d like to change your picks. The latest picks submitted will be the final picks as long as they are entered prior to kickoff. For example you enter all you picks at 1pm, then enter them all again (with changed picks for a few games) at 3:30pm. You initial picks will stand for the 1pm games, however, your second picks (3:30pm picks) will count for the 4pm games, Sunday, and Monday night games. It is the players responsibility to locally save/print all their picks when you make them in case of a problem with the website. We will use the saved file to resolve any discrepancy. In week 1 & 2 of the playoffs, until a player makes one on-time pick (e.g. prior to kickoff) any picks made are judged incorrect. The player does not receive default picks for the missed picks. Once a player submit a pick prior to a game and therefore commits to the $5 playoff cost, then they can receive default picks for the remaining games in the playoffs for that week. Points will be awarded in the following mannerOne point for each correct pick during the regular season.Zero points for an incorrect pick during the regular season. An additional one point (total of two) for each correct “Best Bet” during the regular season.A negative two points (-2) for each incorrect “Best Bet” during the regular season.Four points for each correct pick during Playoff Week One & Two.Eight points for each correct pick during Playoff Week Three (Conference Championships).Sixteen points for a correct pick on the Super Bowl.Zero points for each incorrect pick during any week of the Playoffs/Super Bowl. There are no best bets or default picks during the playoffsThree additional points split among the players with the best record each week. The best record is the total number of correctly picked games plus your winning percentage on your “Best Bets” for the week. For example an 11-3 record with 1-1 “Best Bets” would be ruled as 11 + .500 = 11.500. Similarly, 12-4 and 2-0 would be ruled 12 + 1.000 = 13.000. This means that 1-0 vs. 2-0 on “Best Bets” is equal.Prize money will be awarded in the following manner.$32 to be split among the players with the highest total points each week.$50 to lowest scoring playerFirst place receives 55% of the remaining pool.Second place receives 25% of the remaining pool.Third place receives 10% of the remaining pool.Fourth Place receives 6% of the remaining pool.Fifth Place receives 4% of the remaining pool.$100 will be taken “off the top” to pay for the website (address registration and hosting fees only – Karl will “attempt” to program the site for free – this means no complaining about the website). Should a pool player significantly help in the further automation of the pool on the web, they can have their entry fee waived at Karl’s discretion depending on the value of their assistance. The web site to enter your picks is ezgoer.us. If you are traveling or have another inconvenience, feel free to leave me a message on 908-553-0398 or email me on karl@ with your picks. I will enter them on your behalf and they will count. All players are responsible for keeping a copy of their picks, and should a technical difficulty arise with the website, the backup copy from the player will be used.Weekly standing will now be posted on the web rather than emailed. If this is a problem, simply let Karl know and he will email them.Covid special rules – if 129 or more games are played and the sends ends, the results are final as is. If 128 games or less are played, we will take out the weekly win payments so far and the internet fee and reimburse the rest of the money evenly. If any particular game is not played, it will be considered a tie. See rules for ties above. If there are any unforeseent issues, Karl will decide the outcome as fairly as possible ................
