Percussion Instruments Flash Cards

Teaching Suggestions

1. To use as flash cards, hold cards up one at a time showing the `picture' side and ask students to tell what the name of the instrument is before showing the other side.

2. Shuffle the cards and spread them out on the floor, `words' side up. Invite students to choose a card and draw a picture of it on the board. The card may be turned right way up when correctly drawn.

3. `Miming Game' Allow a student to choose a card, not to be seen by the class, and to demonstrate playing the instrument. The student who first guesses correctly has the next turn.

4. Use the cards to decorate your classroom.

5. Have students sort them into 'tuned' and 'untuned' percussion.

Instructions:

The first ten pages of Flash Cards are the fronts. Print these out and keep them in their original order. The next ten pages are to be printed on the backs of these. Be sure to keep them THE SAME WAY UP so that the tops and bottoms remain the same. To protect your flash cards, they should be laminated. Once laminated, trim the excess laminate from the sides and cut the cards in half. You will now have a set of 20 Flash Cards.
