CFO REPORT UPDATE

We have received our range approval conditional on acting within 60 days on the issues and recommendations as laid out in the report. IT IS MANDATORY WE FOLLOW THESE RECOMMENDATIONS!

A few of the issues are outlined in this newsletter. You will find a new set of range rules posted for each range, please check them out. If in doubt ask a member of the executive.

• Sign in books are required to be used by every shooter on any range. A new sign in book is located in the cowboy action pavilion to be signed when shooting on any of the outdoor ranges. The indoor book remains at the pistol range. Signed score sheets for sporting clays or trap will be an acceptable substitute for the books as long as they are kept.

• A new flagpole and red flag is located on the corner of the cowboy action storage shed, behind the large “Range in Use” sign. This red flag must be raised when shooting on any of the outdoor ranges.

• There is to be no dry sweeping of the indoor range floor. Wet mopping, vacuuming with a HEPA filter equipped vacuum, or using a squeegee are acceptable methods of cleaning up brass.

• No food or drinks are allowed in the firing line area of the indoor range.

• A personal protective kit consisting of gloves, mask, and instructions for dealing with the lead dust is to be located in the pistol range area.

• Handgun calibers only on the pistol ranges – both indoors & outdoors.

• Maximum caliber allowed on the bench rest range is .58 (allows for muzzleloader and shotgun bullets, lead shotgun slugs are okay).

• Any firearm discharge related personal injury must be reported to the local police immediately and submitted on the “Shooting Range Personal Injury” form to the CFO within 24 hours.

• When trap stations 1 through 4 are in use, TRAP 5 is not to be used.

• The benchrest and outdoor pistol ranges are not to be used when trap shooting is in progress; the radios are no longer an option.

• The 50/100/200 yard range(s) are benchrest only, with paper targets only, placed on the provided backstops. i.e. – no standing, kneeling, prone, no target stands midway, no shooting from anywhere but the bench, no tin cans, water jugs, etc.

• A first aid kit is to be located in the cowboy action pavilion, as well as in the clubhouse.

HANDGUN

With Christmas rapidly approaching attendance is beginning to drop off, but expected to pick up again in the New Year. Henry Atkinson is our handgun chairman and can be contacted at 519/ 842-2118

COWBOY ACTION

Currently quiet on the western front – the season begins anew in the spring. Glen Foster has announced he has stepped down as section head, but has agreed to remain on as the executive representative for C/A.

At the Dec. executive meeting Mark Hopper presented Glen with a plaque recognizing all the time and hard work he has put in improving our club.

The new contact for this section is Dan Holek, aka Colt  "Virgil" McCloud - SASS #65003L

There is to be some new information posted on the OVR&G website for the cowboy action section – check it out, see the web address / links on the last page of this newsletter.

TRAP

Winter Southern Counties Interclub is now underway, currently finding OVR&G in second place. Remaining schedule as follows;

Dec.19 Jan. 9 Jan. 16 Jan. 30

Feb. 6 Feb. 20 Feb. 27 Mar. 6

The awards banquet is to be held March 26, 2011 at Verschoyle.

The 2011 ATA shoot dates are May 1st. & May 29th.

SPORTING CLAYS [pic]

The recent CFO inspection has resulted in the temporary closing of stations 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6, and limited station 1 to rabbit targets only – due to shot fall requirements mandating at least 241 meters from the shooting line to the property boundary line.

The executive is seeking someone from the sporting clays section to come forward and redesign these station locations in order to resubmit the drawings to the CFO and have the new locations approved and re-opened.

ARCHERY, BIG BORE, & SMALL BORE

Since a large percentage of our membership are outdoor members we need someone to step forward and fill the empty benchrest range chairman’s position. Much of the maintenance has fallen to a few members that rarely shoot on these ranges. Any volunteers?

Section contacts are as follows;

Archery - Mark Hopper

Big Bore - open

Small Bore – open
