PLANT MANAGER

Chicago Tube and Iron Company is a steel distributor and fabricator headquartered outside of Chicago. The Company’s Engineered Products Division, located in Locust (Charlotte), North Carolina, is a leading producer of fabricated steel products used in the power generation (solar, waste to energy and fossil fuel), pulp & paper, petrochemical industries as well as general fabrication for regional OEM’s. Our company continues to lead the industry by making major investments in expanding our advanced welding capabilities and tube laser cutting processes.

We are currently seeking an experienced Plant Manager for our operation in Locust.

JOB DUTIES

The successful candidate will manage the on-time delivery and overall quality of products fabricated or processed by CTI Engineered Products Division, ensuring that products are delivered and manufactured to customer’s expectation. Following are primary job duties and responsibilities:

• Manage to budget on commitments and forecasts

• Maintain and expand the company safety program

• Develop and maintain production schedule to meet delivery needs

• Control the assignment of work to obtain efficient use of personnel and equipment

• Develop plans to improve quality, increase productivity, and reduce production costs

• Responsible for hiring plant personnel, enforcement of shop rules and progressive discipline; handle union issues, plant safety and housekeeping

• Build a high performance culture that promotes engagement, teamwork, and accountability

• Develop skills and leadership abilities of staff and hourly workforce

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Associate’s Degree plus a minimum of 5 years of management level experience in metals fabrication or manufacturing is required. A BS Degree in Engineering or related technical field is preferred. A good understanding of inventory management, quality control, production scheduling, and personnel management are key. You must be able to resolve problems in a proactive fashion. The successful candidate will have solid computer skills, with experience in the use of Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Word, and Outlook. Experience with ASME code requirements and manufacturing planning (ERP) systems is highly desired.
