According to PC support expert Tim Fisher, the CPU fan and power supply fans should be cleaned. In many cases this can fix the problem, but should the noise persist the fans may need to be replaced. Additionally, a certain amount of noise should be expected from the fans when a computer is used for a lengthy period of time. There are a variety of reasons a mouse could be working improperly beyond a simply faulty mouse. According to Computer Hope, a technology-help website, the computer may simply be frozen, which can be fixed by pressing the Num Lock on the computer keyboard. Additionally, any recently installed hardware could be conflicting with the mouse. This can be checked by uninstalling the hardware. If a computer is not showing what is being typed, one should first check to see that the screen is on. Most laptops should turn the screen on automatically when the computer is powered on, but a special button may have to be pushed in order to turn the monitor of a PC on. If the problem persists, one should also check to see that the computer itself is on.If a computer will not print documents, again there could be a variety of issues occurring. One should first check to see that the printer is on. Next, the connection between the printer and the computer should be checked. If the printer works off of Wi-Fi, the Wi-Fi account it is connected to should be tested. If the printer does not support Wi-Fi, there should be a wire connecting the printer to the computer, or else the printer cannot receive the information to be printed. If a computer will not play sound, one should first check to see that all speakers are powered on. Additionally, there may be an issue with the speakers themselves, in which case they should be replaced. Furthermore, on some computers, a sound icon can be seen in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen. If there is a red line through this icon, the icon should be clicked to turn the mute option off.If a computer monitor will not turn on, according to PC support expert Tim Fisher, the monitor should first be tested. Testing the monitor includes making sure all power options are in the “on” position, making sure all monitor wires are properly plugged in, and checking that brightness settings are not the culprit. If this does not solve the problem, check that the PC itself has fully cycled on and that any power voltage switches are set correctly. If a CD-ROM will not eject a disc, first check to see that no locking software has been installed that would prevent the drive from opening. Then, try to eject the disk by using through the My Computer icon, rather than the disk eject button. This could simply be an issue of a bad eject button.
