We will talk about who we celebrated with and where. We will discuss that most people celebrated in their homes. We will then discuss homes. A home is a shelter that protects us from different weather. It is a special place we share with our families. We keep our belongings in our homes.Dramatic Play- we will encourage the children to follow a visual play recipe. We will talk about the different foods we saw on our walk and what type of store we saw the foods.Blocks Invite children to build skyscraper apartment buildings. Encourage them to go as high as they can. Remind them about safety precautions such as posting a caution sign and wearing a hard hat.Science- Different types of materials that are used to build homes (ex: brick, wood, plastic, bamboo, shingle, etc.) will be placed in the science center. Students will explore the building materials and will describe how they look and puter- They will play math games involving color.Writing- we will use their writing folder or write the names of what we saw on the walk. We will show pictures from our walk. We will discuss what we saw specifically the different homes. Homes may be similar/ different by size, color, and the people that live in their homes. Then, we will discuss the different types of homes that are around the world.Dramatic Play- Students pretend to live in apartment buildings, trailers, private homes, huts etc. Point out that some homes are smaller and shorter while others are spacious and tall.Science- Various materials that are used to build homes will be placed on the sand table for the children to explore Math- How many people live here? Students will be provided with home templates. Children will pick a card with a written number. They will read the number and then put the corresponding number of figurines in the home. (children can add the total amount of people in both homes)Table Top- children will use Legos or building blocks to create buildings, homes and stores.Literacy/ Library- The children will walk around the classroom (house) identifying objects that start with the letter d. Students will learn that there are different types of homes in neighborhoods and communities. (Bank-home for money + bank teller, Grocery- home for fruits and vegetables + grocer, Library- where there are a lot of books +librarian) Students will be introduced to houses, apartments, boathouses, igloos, and huts. We will discuss why people live in different types of homes. We will point out that the weather and locations have a big impact on the type of homes built. Then we will find out which one was their favorite type of home.Science- Children pretend to build homes and buildings with playdough and other building materials.Dramatic play- Students can pretend they are in a grocery store (home for fruits and veggies and food) The children take on different rolls including the cashier, grocer, and shoppers.Blocks- Students are provided with pictures of a variety of different homes. They will use the pictures to guide their building. Math- the children will find different items in the room. We will talk about how our classroom looks and what is in the classroom. We will also talk about blueprints that show the layout of homes.Blocks- children can use blocks to create a blueprint of the classroom. They can focus on one area or a combination of areas.Science-will remind children of the cars we saw in our community. Then hypothesize what happens to a car when it drives up and when it drives down a ramp?Math- the children will create a color pattern. they can use a variety of material such as cubes, do a dot art paint, stickers or colored tissue puter- They will play math games involving colors.Literacy/ Library-They will look at an alphabet book and listen to music to review letter d sound and words that begin with the letter d.Writing- The children will use the writing folder or they will trace or write words they see in the classroom.Art- The children will be encouraged to create a blueprint of the classroom. We will focus on size and color. Then we can look at the different shapes that make a house. We can then look at the different materials that make a house such as wood and bricks. Dramatic Play- the children will pretend they are in different types of homes or even a make-believe home such as a castle. They can create crowns as they will become kings and queensFine Motor- the children can use Play-Doh to create building or stores or homes. They can also discuss the colors that they see in different structures.Science- Different types of materials that are used to build homes (ex: brick, wood, plastic, bamboo, shingle, etc.) will be placed in the science center. Students will explore the building materials and will describe how they look and feel. Math- the children will count the windows in a house. They will throw the dice and then add that number of windows to the house.Literacy/ Library- The children will choose a book and identify words that start with the letter d. They will write it down and draw pictures besides it.Writing- the children will use the writing folder or the children will look around the classroom for new words they learned and try to trace or write the words.Art- The children can create a house from a variety of shapes and colors. Game.Tuesday 12/1Story & Discussion: Use the picture on the poster to share a visual of the story that you are discussing with students. Today's story is about?Marisa and Shontal. The two girls are doing the same activity together but are showing different feelings about what is happening. Wednesday 12/2Skill Building Activity #1:?Identifying same or different. Alternative activity that could help for participation for student who struggle with language. Play the Feelings matching game. This time match up the boy and girl that are showing the same feeling. Use the feelings we have learned about: happy, sad, surprised, scared and angry. This time the total cards would be 10. Flip over all the feelings cards and their match then have the students take turns pointing to 2 cards for you to flip over. When you flip the cards over ask the students are they the same feeling or different. When they are different ask students the question so that it is a “yes/no”- “are these cards the same – no” encourage students to say no or shake their heads no OR when the cards are different you could ask “are the cards different – yes” encourage students to say yes or shake their heads yes. You could have students tell you what two different feelings are on the cards that got flipped. Tell the students when we find a match you will hold them up and we should make the feeling we see with our face so that all our faces show the same feeling. Thursday 12/3Skill Building Activity #2:?Use Polly spots or tape markers to make 2 different lines to help students keep socially distanced. Have drawn pictures or your Feelings cards to show students when you are designating each line. Give students the scenarios when asking how they would feel. For students/classrooms where the movement around the room would be to much you can do it from seats by asking the same scenarios and having kids stand up or sit down. Ex: Scenario 1- Someone asks you to hold a snake. If you would feel scared stand up if you would feel happy stay sitting.
