STATE - California Antique Slots

California Antique Slots, Inc.

Called the “trendsetters”, and “the masters of gaming technology”, Bally’s slot machines of the 1960s and 70s dominated the electromechanical scene. The casinos in the United States saw innovation after innovation. Bally machines boasted larger newly-styled hoppers, multi-line and multi-coin plays and gigantic jackpots. The other slot manufacturers (Jennings, Mills, etc.) could not keep up with all of the exciting trends that the Bally engineers were coming up with.

The following descriptions of each Bally machine are not exhaustive. The prospective buyer of any of the machines listed below (or in our current inventory) can research these machines on the Internet, local libraries, or from the Bally Corporation.

The Bally machines dominated U.S. casinos from early 1964 until the middle 1980s. The first of Bally’s electromechanical machines was the Bally 742A, Money Honey. The last models produced were the Bally 1200 series in 1980. The names of those machines, the Dollar Progressive, the Golden Nugget, the Magnificent Seven (and several other unnamed machines) rounded off a truly magnificent era. The electromechanical slot machine absolutely defined the highest standards for slot machines for years to come.

These machines are slowly disappearing from the collecting scene. Many of these machines have been simply cannibalized to act as parts sources for other working machines. It is our thought at California Antique Slots that as the years go by, these machines will increase in value for the collector.

Of course, sentimental value cannot have a price pegged to it, so any machine that you find is one you keep for what a “slot machine used to be”; before the industry went to programmable machines.

All Bally electromechanical machines that are not E1000 or E2000 machines are legal to own in the State of California as of January 2005. The series E1000 machines (some of them, at least) will be available beginning in 2005. Blank areas in any of the columns are missing facts that we are currently researching.
