Poems inspired by Amazing Grace

Poems inspired by Amazing Grace from Bristol

After Grace Goes Home

After the final performance of Peter Pan,

Grace felt more proud than before.

So proud, she flew gracefully

all the way home

for a magnificent tea party

with Raj, Natalie, Nana, Ma and Paw Paw.

Grace felt sleepily drowsy.

So she took off her shiny, pearly, leafy dress

and as soon as her weary head

hit the plump pillow,

her eyelids closed and she dreamt

of wanting to play Hansel from Hansel and Gretel.

David said, ‘You can’t play Hansel, because you are a girl.’

Sarah said, ‘ You can’t play Hansel, because you are not greedy enough.’

Nana said, ‘You don’t have to look like it, sound like it, or smell like it.

Just be it!’

Girls versus Boys

Girls are better than boys.

No! Boys are better than girls!

Different people like different things.

Boys are better at football,

But Alama plays a fandabidoda game of football!

Girls are better at dance

But Jake spins on his head and does a fantastic flip!

Boys like eating sweets

But Erin likes sucking rock-hard boilers!

Girl like pretty horses,

But JT just loves bucking broncos!

Girls like mythical beasts

But Jake likes dirty dragons.

Boys are better at basketball

But Miss Hayton plays a mean one on one

Girls are better at tennis

But Joel scored a mean ace

Boys are better at jokes

But Akilah told a joke and someone actually laughed!

St Joseph’s Class Poem

Jaya would like to play Minnie Mouse

Milo would like to play Homer Simpson

Corada would like to play Beyonce

Natalya would like to play Sandy from Grease

Joe would be a king like Arthur

Leon could be like the Ghost Rider

Kaycie would like to be Tracy Beaker

Lauren would like to be Sharpay

Taimar would like to be as cool as Bart

Max spins webs like Spiderman

Everyone in Year 3/4 BW likes to play characters and pretend.

***

My dad inspires me because he’s rich!

I’d be like Carrick on the footy pitch.

Birds inspire me with colourful feathers

Egyptians inspire me with glorious treasures

I’d like to act like Olivia Newton-John

Or be Thierry Henri – Game on!

I’d like to be an actor like the men in the movies

I’d like to sing like Doda, she’s so groovy!

Daffy Duck is my inspiration

I just love using my imagination!

***

‘You can be anything you want’ said Nan

‘You can even be Peter Pan’

We could be a football sat

Or we could drive a racing car

We could be a tennis champ

Or ride a snowboard off a ramp

We could be an actress in a movie

Or we could dance, really groovy

We could sing some songs by Lemar

When we record them, we fly so far!

We could be a kid, just having fun

So bye bye for now, everyone!
