ASSUME NO PEACE

Free Jackson County Whole List + BLM vs 'Patriot' Rally Last Night

I see no news at all regarding the BLM Rally and Patriot Counter-Rally last night. Not on Channel 12, Channel 10, Channel 5, the Mail Tribune... Nothing. Has anyone else been able to find anything? Please post here if so. It was an epic event.

My experience of the event:

I guess the odds of BLM to 'Patriots' at  about 1 to 3. 'Patriots' (not sure of the best term) had only 3 open carry rifles, a few pistols. Very responsible, low profile. Bullhorn exchanges across street at Vogel Plaza probably came out even, they had some points, we had some points. Calls of "Defund the Police" were met with "Defund George Soros" but more often "Commies Go Home!" Many drivers were supportive of 'Patriots' with thumbs up and honks and loud engine revving, some supported BLM with thumbs up to them and fingers to us. BLM had many signs, such as "End White Supremacy" and "Breanna Taylor" (black woman killed by cops?) and "Stop systemic racism" along with the big BLM banners. 'Patriots' had a few, such as "God Bless America", "Support the Police" and "Back the Blue" and "Blue Lives Matter" along with some American flags and one "Don't Treat on Me". More on flags later.

TV cameras were set up on the least occupied street corner of the intersection of Main and Central where the initial action occurred. Some 'Patriots' noticed this and shouted "The media is the enemy!"

After much shouted exchanges across the street, with dueling bull horns and loud shouts and chants ("Black Lives Matter!" "All Lives Matter!") BLM eventually moved to march to the police station. They crossed main first to go around our group on the sidewalk, but we all crossed too and met them on the other side. It was tense as they walked through our gauntlet, people shouting "Commies go home!" and "we don't want you here!" and such. BLM marched right on through, some altercations ensued as one shirtless black man (he's local, not necessarily BLM) got into shouting matches and people congregated around. Some 'Patriots' were verbally forceful in demands to leave town, and BLM members back-tracked to support. It was very tense, though no one seemed to touch each other, the big taboo.

BLM marched on and 'Patriots' followed, though stretched out by back eddy incidents. One employee of a restaurant was videoing incidents from the door and gave the finger to 'Patriots'. A rude comment was shouted at him as he turned back into his collapsing small business. Ironic, Lockdown Brown is devastating restaurants, and we were the ones without masks.

BLM mostly wore masks. I find this strange, they are defiant of authority, except when some authorities (not that it's Bill Gates or Lockdown Brown) tell them to wear masks. They believe in the invisible lurking menace! Another reason to hate us, we are endangering public health. Like they're not? One of many absurdities.

During this pilgrimage to the police station a few of us 'Patriots' talked to the Channel 12 film crew, two young women wearing masks. Discussion of our distrust of media, who is responsible for the way they spin 'news' against us, our personal experiences being misrepresented ensued, and these obviously frightened and overwhelmed but trying to be professional young woman eventually crossed the street to shouts of "Fake News!" and such. People need to express their outrage, but I still felt compassionate for these young women, who I am sure are not responsible. But I expressed my denunciation of media too. Why did Channel 12 send such obviously defenseless young women into this absolute war zone without accompaniment and security?

Finally everyone congregated outside the Police station. For another absurdity, the police themselves were a full block away in cars at the ends of the street, no direct presence. 'Patriots' occupied the front of the building, while BLM was out in the street. 'Patriots' also circled around the area onto the sidewalk across the street, with BLM in the middle of the circle. Surrounded. They held firm however, put up speakers with bull horns on the short wall before the precinct, shouted coordinated chants—"no justice, no peace!", "Say her name, Breanna Taylor (?)".

Eventually 'Patriots' got up on that wall too and countered with bullhorn chants "USA! USA!" and "Say his name! Landon Hoffman!" At one point someone led our crowd in God Bless America. I also heard "No Commies! No BLM! No Kosher USA!" (not an official message, not that we had any). Much more can be said about the vicious shouted verbal and bull horn exchanges between the two groups. The dynamic seemed to be BLM trying to shout their chants and 'Patriots' trying to shout over them with our own. BLM: "Stop the Sweeps!" 'Patriots': "Stop the Crime!" BLM: "Black Lives Matter!" 'Patriots': "All Lives Matter!" I even heard: "Black Crimes Matter!" There is a lot of creativity and passion in these things, and they may be meaningful just for that.

A display of flags was made at this epicenter of action in front of the precinct, a kind of concrete wall that served as a stage. The gay pride rainbow flag was there, BLM flags, other of their colors. 'Patriots' had American flags, I saw one 'Don't Treat on Me!" and one 13 star Revolutionary flag. No swastikas or confederate flags appeared. When a black man took the stage with an upside down American flag, that was too much for 'Patriots', and they too stood on the stage with a proper large American flag raised. The flag battle continued as speakers from both sides raged through bull horns and shouted voices.

Many references were made to BLM as "Commies" and "Marxists" I should add. One big woman held her palms up and chanted some barely-heard song over the crowd from the stage, as if bestowing a blessing or casting a spell. When she was accused of being a "Marxist", she pleaded innocence, and said she was 'spiritual'. 'Patriots' insisted she was associated with "Marxists". This is their equivalent of BLM's "racists!", the worst accusation imaginable.

At times in the midst of this a motorcycle would rev up and absolutely devastate the entire scene with overwhelming racket. Everything had to stop and nobody could hear a word, even from themselves. I broke out earmuffs from my pack of gear and was able to endure. Eventually this subsided and the shouting continued, until someone fired up a chainsaw, with the same result. 'Patriots' cheered at these disruptions.

At one point a new sub-group joined the fray: Christian folks. Again, not sure of the label they would want to be called, but they came quietly yet assertively into the melee with huge signs about repentance and Jesus and the way and the light. Eventually a few of them too took the stage, and using their own speaker a clean shaven well-dressed young man gave a kind of sermon. BLM quieted down somewhat at this, though few seemed to listen. The sermon was partly about the dark and the light, the way to truth, salvation and the like. It was a welcome presence on our side, I think, though I am never sure how this message is received. These are trustworthy folk, though we heard some shouting about sin and Jesus from their crowd at times.

A few more personal exchanges occurred on the front lines, people trying to make their grievances heard—"Cops are killing unarmed black people!" "No, more whites are killed by cops than blacks!" "And more blacks kill blacks than cops or whites" "You're racist!" "The media is lying to you!" etc. It is hard to say if any of this gets through, though maybe later if seeds are planted. I had a heated exchange with what appeared to be a transgender youth. I stood on the side of the stage and he stood in the street below and we shouted at each other. At one point he threatened to assault me, and I became upset and challenged him to come around the building with me and have it out. He flinched a bit, but soon renewed his screaming at me and others. My mode changed then and I said "I feel sorry for you." Know what he said? "I feel sorry for you!" So it goes. A few of these exchanges occurred along the front but none went further. It was close though. I got a sense of what a full-on medieval street battle complete with pikes rushes and shield walls and boiling oil and battering rams would be like. It was both exhilarating and frightening.

At one point the same shirtless black man marched into the 'Patriot' ranks in front of the precinct, and a burly man blocked his path. Standoff, eye to eye, shouts, threats. Did someone push someone? Surge in the crowd, shouts of 'violence!' but it subsided.

Then a few other folks arrived. Two men and a woman it seemed. 'Patriots' of a kind. They marched among BLM on the street and pointed fingers, shouts of "Get outta here!" and far worse. "I'll smash your face!" etc. Man absolutely raging and threatening. Bull horn called for peace, calm down, but confrontation continued, woman joined in, shouting into the masks of the BLM youth. BLM bull horn and ranks chanted "Peaceful Protest, Peaceful Protest". 'Patriot' bull horn countered "Peaceful Portland, Peaceful Portland". Amazingly, it seemed the raging woman subsided and actually had a dialogue with the masked BLM youth.

A couple older women entered the street. They shouted up at the 'Patriots' on the stage and beyond. Could not make out their words.  I estimate they were mothers or family members of some of the youth. Much of this seems sad to me afterwards, I am sure these grandmothers or aunties just wanted their children's grievances understood and respected. As they themselves did. As the 'Patriots' did. So much misunderstanding, and some of us know this is by design. But in the midst of this mayhem and exchange of rage and hate and judgement, it was hard to remember that.

Meanwhile another interpersonal conversation was underway at the base of the stage. One 'Patriot' type listened to a young black woman, transgender (?) youth and others about their grievances. When he responded, "The Freemasons are involved. The George Floyd incident was a Freemason fake. It was all a hoax," the BLM folks erupted in outrage and recoiled. They renewed their accusation of "racist" and the attempt to communicate collapsed.

BLM organized a sit-down action where they became quite and yet raised their fists. I have to say, they were somewhat more organized than the 'Patriots' and had some tactics they employed. Perhaps they are trained by paid organizers, with paid staff among them. The best the 'Patriot' bull horn could say at this point was "Lower your fists if you are peaceful!" which of course was ignored. One BLM had raised a peace sign, and at least one 'Patriot' raised one back. A sign "We love you" was also seen among the BLM.

But little more love and peace was expressed as this incredible confrontation raged on. No cops anywhere near, only a  distant presence at the far ends of the street. Finally BLM, perhaps feeling they had completed their mission, stood to leave. They filed away down the street and around the corner. Some 'Patriots' followed and shouted "Go back to California!" and "Go back to China!"

The agro man who had marched into the BLM crowd and made threats revealed why he was really so mad. Before the 'Patriots' dispersed he announced in a booming voice (you really get to know who has a strong voice. I am hoarse today) that the great problem is child trafficking and pedophilia, and "Our Children are at stake!" he bellowed. A great gathering was announced for September 12 at the Salem State house. Someone yelled "911 Truth!"

And so it goes. The 'Patriots' dispersed, walking down the streets to their cars. It was noted that BLM mainly re-congregated back at Vogel Plaza, and police cars were seen cruising the streets nearby. 'Patriots' were showing their firearms and explaining about ammo, but police cruised on by. Open carry is legal. BLM is known to conduct their vandalism and criminality more at night, but no 'Patriots' seemed to linger for that action. A bum (sorry, 'homeless man') called from the alley "White boys matter", and others agreed that "Home boys matter" too. Yes, there is humor in all this, as there is in all human tragedy.

This is hopefully a thorough and realistic and possibly unbiased view on the major news that occurred last night, though far more could and should be said. I checked this morning and see absolutely no news on Channel 12, 10 or 5, or the Mail Tribune. Even though TV news cameras were there at both locations. ?

If anyone has seen any news reports, please post here. Onward!
