Jerrell McCoolSoutheast First National Bank, SummervilleCBA expresses our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Jerrell McCool, Southeast First National Bank, Summerville, who passed away unexpectedly last week. Mr. McCool served as president of four banks in Northwest Georgia and retired in 2006. At the age of 79, he worked part time at the bank doing credit review and business development. Click here for the obituary.William B. "Barry" Hurley, Chairman of the Board,?Legal Counsel, CEO & CFO, Southeast First National Bank, shared more about Mr. McCool. He started his banking career in December of 1959 at Rome Bank & Trust Company under J. B. Dodd.? He left Rome Bank & Trust to become the President of First National Bank of Chattooga County in 1978 where he served until 1985.? From 1985 until 1995, he served as President of First National Bank of Polk County.? From 1995 to 1998 he served as Cedartown City President of United Bank & Trust.? He was then hired as the President of Bank of Adairsville in 1998 until its sale to United Community Bank.? He then returned to First National Bank of Chattooga County to head up the lending department until 2001 when he was hired by Citizens First Bank (Synovus) to develop a new department for consumer and commercial real estate construction loans.? Jerrell retired in 2006, but decided he wanted something to do to stay busy so he came back to work at Southeast First National Bank formerly First National Bank of Chattooga County as the credit review supervisor and business development officer where he worked part time until his death. He was honorably discharged from the United States Army. He was a graduate of both the Georgia School of Banking, 1970 and the LSU School of Banking, 1973.? He also served on the board and as President of many civic organizations in his career, but if you talked to him, what he loved most was his involvement with the Boy Scouts of America.? He was an Eagle Scout and received the Scouter's Award, Scouter's Key, Scoutmaster's Award of Merit and the Vigil Order of the Arrow.? He is survived by his wife, Jane, and his three sons.? He will be sorely missed at our bank and even more in our community.? ?? ................
