*Only recharge the Honeywell Batteries HMA2104-LiP battery in an authorized Honeywell Batteries battery charger

ν Safety Guidelines & Warnings:

ν Before using this Charger, please read all instructions and cautionary notations on the

Charger, the GTS® and Honeywell® Battery, any OEM batteries, and on the host device.

ν To reduce risk of injury, only use authorized battery products with this charger. Other non-approved batteries may cause personal injury and / or damage to the equipment.

■ Do not expose the charger to excessive moisture, temperature extremes or direct sunlight.

■ Place charger in a well ventilated area, which is free of foreign materials.

■ To reduce risk of electric shock, unplug charger from power source before cleaning.

■ Dispose of used batteries in accordance with your state or local hazardous material

laws.

■ Do not disassemble, incinerate, modify, or short circuit the charger, any battery, or

related components.

ν Troubleshooting:

If the Charger does not operate after you have followed the previous operating instructions, then please try the following:

ν Check the circuit breakers to ensure that none have tripped.

ν Check for loose cable, or power cord connections.

ν Check to insure the battery, or radio is properly inserted into the charging slot.

■ Ensure that the lid closure detect switch isn’t accidentally depressed.

ν CAUTION:

Do not pour, spray or spill any liquid into or onto the charger. If liquid does come into contact with the charger, immediately un-plug the charger and remove any batteries.

ν Unit Description:

■ The EOCC Emergency Operations Center Charger is designed to provide a transportable, rugged, and highly reliable means of charging up to 18 radios or radio batteries at one time. It is designed to be used in field operations, and has the ability to receive its power from either AC or DC power sources – providing flexibility in emergency situations. The input power can be either 120 or 240 VAC, connected by a conventional commercial extension cord. The DC power sources can be 12 or 24 VDC supplied by either a 12 V system vehicle, or a 24 V system vehicle (such as a Humvee, or Fire Engine), or from a 24 V source via an optionally installed NATO Slave Receptacle.

■ WARNING: If the EOCC is run in DC mode directly off of a car battery, the unit will quickly deplete the external battery – the vehicle’s engine needs to be running to supply this much power.

ν Operation

1. DO NOT USE THE UNIT IN DIRECT RAIN OR WATER. With the lid closed the EOCC is water resistant, but is NOT immersion capable. With the lid open prevent any water from entering the unit, as there are necessary ventilation slots and openings which could allow water into the interior of the unit causing the possibility of short circuits, and serious internal damage.

2. Plug the AC power supply into the wall and the power cord into the charger

a. It is recommended that a grounded three (3) prong AC outlet be used to power this device.

b. The input connector for the AC power is located on the rear panel and accepts a standard 3 prong single output heavy gauge extension cord cable.

c. The user should insure that the AC outlet is grounded before using this device. If you are not sure that the AC outlet has appropriate ground, we suggest that a qualified electrician be called for verification.

d. A temporary grounding adapter can be used to properly ground a two (2) prong outlet.

e. If run with an AC generator, the generator needs to be 500 Watts minimum.

3. Alternately the unit can be powered from a DC power source such as a Police car, a Fire Engine, or when using the optional NATO Slave receptacle and mating cable – a humvee, tank, armored personnel carrier, or other military vehicle. The input power cable should have a minimum of 10 gauge power wire, soldered to the DC input power connector. The mating plug on the EOCC is an Amphenol thread locking circular military plug. Additional detail on the external cable and connector is provided later in this manual.

4. Ensure that the EOCC charger cups air slots are unobstructed and adequate ventilation is provided. Do not use the EOCC in a completely closed cabinet. The unit will automatically shut off when the top lid is closed.

5. Insert a battery or a radio into any charger socket. The cup will start to charge when it detects the presence of a battery and the battery is within normal temperature limits. When charging, the Charge LED will be red. Please see the LED indications in Product Specification later in this manual.

ν Cleaning

Periodically wipe the EOCC with a slightly damp cloth or other cleaning materials suitable for use on electrical devices.
